Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year experience in security, law enforcement or related field.
  • Must have CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or complete this training within 60 days of employment.
  • Must possess a valid NM driver’s license.
  • Background check required.
Responsibilities
  • Patrols the campus to detect and deter crimes and violations.
  • Monitor security/ surveillance cameras; escorts students and visitors to and from campus areas; provides assistance to motorists.
  • Directs traffic; issues parking citations.
  • Monitors parking lots; locks and unlocks facilities; logs property into lost and found; maintains shift daily activity report.
  • Responds to all campus emergencies.
  • Investigates accidents, incidents, suspicious persons, and allegations of violations of college policies.
  • Prepares incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Provides appropriate intervention to de-escalate confrontational situations.
  • Notifies the proper authorities or administrative staff concerning criminal and campus policy violations.
  • Monitors all fire applications; conducts emergency evacuations and fire drills; reports unsafe conditions and practices to proper persons.
  • Monitors bio-mass and computer server rooms to ensure proper operation.
  • Conducts monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency notification towers, elevator phones, automated external defibrillators, and exterior and interior lighting.
  • The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching.
  • The employee occasionally lifts heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
  • The work is typically performed indoors and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to machinery with moving parts.
  • The work requires the use or protective devices, such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
  • May be assigned day, swing, and/or graveyard shift.
  • Work schedule may include weekends, holidays and during campus closures.
  • Preforms other related duties as assigned.
