- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing is required.
- One year of registered nurse experience is required.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- A registered nurse license for the applicable work location is required: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin; a compact-state registered nurse license may qualify where specified.
- Complete admitting and shift assessments on assigned behavioral health patients, including behavior assessments, accurately and within the timeframe established by policy and procedures.
- Use critical thinking and judgment to analyze patient assessment data and notify the physician of changes in condition.
- Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans according to policies and procedures.
- Document all nursing care provided and adhere to nursing standards and ministry policies and procedures.
- Implement and accurately record physician orders.
- Assess and monitor patients and the environment for safety within the unit.
- Serve as a clinical resource and supervise care delivered by licensed practical nurses and technicians.
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and document the education provided in the electronic health record.
- Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice, ensuring care is based on patients' age-specific and clinical needs.
- Follow professional nursing standards and use the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to patients' current and evolving health needs.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
