3M has established a $4.25 billion unsecured revolving credit facility with JPMorgan Chase Bank as administrative agent. The new facility, dated 17 August 2026, replaces a previous $4.25 billion five-year agreement from May 2023. Advances will mature five years from the effective date, with options to extend for up to two additional one-year periods subject to lender approval. Interest rates vary based on currency and the company's credit rating. The agreement includes provisions allowing 3M to increase the facility up to $5.25 billion in $25 million increments. The company must maintain an EBITDA to Interest Ratio of at least 3.0 to 1.0 quarterly.
Kevin H. Rhodes, EVP and Chief Legal Officer of 3M Company, sold 7,669 shares of common stock on 22 July 2026, according to an SEC Form 4 filing. The transaction was valued at $1.3 million. The sale was an exercise-and-sell event in which Rhodes converted derivative securities into common stock at $154.69 per share, then sold them at a weighted average price of $171.20. This price aligned closely with the market close of $170.76 on the transaction date. Following the sale, Rhodes retains direct ownership of 43,779 shares, representing approximately 0.0085% of the company's outstanding equity. His reported holdings include dividend share equivalents accrued through 3M's deferred compensation plan. 3M Company has a market capitalisation of $88.1 billion and generated $25.2 billion in revenue over the trailing twelve months.
3M, the company known for Post-it notes and Scotch tape, has developed expanded beam optical connectivity technology that helps data centre operators deploy fibre-optic networks faster for AI workloads. The technology saves 85% of installation time by spreading light across a wider surface, making connections more resistant to dust and vibrations. Microsoft has certified the technology for use in its Azure data centres after several years of testing. 3M is conducting trials with other hyperscalers whilst expanding manufacturing capacity. The business is expected to generate $40 million to $50 million in revenue this year but could grow four to five times over the next several years. 3M plans to double production capacity this year and again over the following 12 to 18 months.
3M reported second-quarter 2026 results with GAAP sales of $6.5 billion, up 2.4% year-on-year, and adjusted organic growth of 5.4%. The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $2.40, an 11% increase from the prior year, whilst adjusted operating margin rose 40 basis points to 24.9%. Operating cash flow reached $1.0 billion, with adjusted free cash flow of $1.3 billion. The company returned $1.4 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases. Based on strong first-half performance, 3M raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance from $8.50-$8.70 to $8.80-$8.95. The company expects adjusted total sales growth of 4.5% and adjusted operating margin expansion of 70-80 basis points for 2026. Recent strategic highlights include partnerships with Microsoft on AI data centre infrastructure and Airbus on advanced insulation technologies.
3M stock generates $3,120 in annual passive income from 1,000 shares at the current quarterly dividend of $0.78, representing roughly a 2% yield. The company's Dividend Aristocrat streak ended in 2024 following the Solventum spin-off, which reset the quarterly dividend from $1.51 to $0.70. However, 3M has since raised its dividend twice consecutively, climbing to the current $0.78 rate. The payout appears sustainable with a ratio under 40% of guided 2026 earnings. CEO William Brown projects adjusted earnings per share of $8.50 to $8.70 for 2026 against the $3.12 annual dividend. The company reported first-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $2.14 per share on $6.03 billion in revenue. 3M returned $2.41 billion to shareholders in the first quarter of 2026 through dividends and buybacks. Institutional ownership stands at 77.5% of the float. Ongoing litigation remains a concern, including PFAS-related lawsuits that prompted the original dividend reset.
