Requirements
  • A degree qualification in civil engineering or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • Extensive experience in design and/or engineering management, temporary works, instrumentation and monitoring, and delivery of large infrastructure projects is required.
  • Experience managing large-scale temporary works infrastructure projects is required.
  • A strong understanding of railway technical standards and Works Information requirements is required.
  • The role requires the ability to manage complex interfaces and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working in a cost-conscious environment is required.
  • Experience managing people and designers is required.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all temporary works are undertaken in accordance with the correct process, appropriate standards, and scheme design.
  • Ensure that temporary works are constructed in accordance with the design, relevant drawings, and specifications.
  • Act as the first point of contact between the designer and site team for temporary works matters.
  • Ensure that personnel responsible for on-site temporary works management and supervision receive appropriate training.
  • Ensure through the lead Temporary Works Coordinator that subcontractors managing, controlling, and constructing temporary works have appropriate and adequate procedures.
  • Maintain training records and documentation relating to Temporary Works Coordinator and Temporary Works Supervisor appointments across the project.
  • Coordinate temporary works between site teams, temporary works designers, permanent works designers, external stakeholders, and other key interfaces.
  • Ensure that design competency checks are undertaken in accordance with Construction (Design and Management) regulations.
  • Take part in specific production meetings where required.
  • Develop and maintain detailed delivery programmes for temporary works design.
  • Ensure alignment with HS2 Works Information and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with civil engineering teams, signalling teams, and other railway systems contractors.
  • Manage internal interfaces at boundaries.
  • Oversee procurement and logistics for execution of the temporary works designs.
  • Implement Construction (Design and Management) roles, inductions, and security protocols for all works.
  • Ensure compliance with design obligations and integrate supplier operation and maintenance manuals into project documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.
  • Experience working in a railway environment.
  • Understanding of High Speed technical standards and Works Information requirements.
  • Competence in digital project management tools and Building Information Modelling integration.
  • Negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills for procurement processes.
