Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in panel design software such as EPLAN or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience designing panels to NEC (NFPA 70) and UL 508A requirements
  • Hands-on experience in testing with high-voltage testing procedures and associated safety protocols
  • Strong working knowledge of branch protection coordination, wire sizing, and power conversion device integration
  • Experience managing third-party panel fabrication vendors through design, build, and acceptance phases
  • Familiarity with software including PLM (e.g. Arena or Team Center), product development software (e.g. JIRA) and requirement management tools (e.g. JAMA)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience coordinating with third-party vendors and translating design intent into built assemblies
Responsibilities
  • Design the control panel designs in compliance with NEC (NFPA 70) and UL 508A standards
  • Develop complete control panel schematic, layout and BOM using EPLAN
  • Select appropriate control panel components including connectors, wire harnesses, branch circuit protection devices (breakers, fuses), and power conversion devices (drives, transformers, rectifiers)
  • Select components rated for 600V AC and 2000V DC high-voltage applications
  • Work directly with third-party panel vendors to translate design intent into built assemblies; execute and oversee high-voltage testing procedures including hipot, insulation resistance, and functional validation
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers on panel enclosure selection, thermal management, and physical integration
  • Support DFMEA activities for panel-level failure mode identification and risk mitigation
