- Hold Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Hold a Licensed Practical Nurse license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for Illinois work locations, or a compact-state-issued Licensed Practical Nurse license for Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin work locations.
- Meet the stated physical requirements, including standing and walking, lifting and carrying objects, patient movement, keyboard use and data entry, and effective oral communication, vision, hearing, and smell.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Contribute to patient assessment and ensure patient well-being.
- Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
- Educate patients and families about disease treatment plans, self-care after discharge, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care.
- Document the provider's patient encounter when needed, including diagnoses, symptoms, discharge and follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
- Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications, and complete patient charts by transcribing laboratory, X-ray, and other evaluation results.
- Continuously check data availability for orders to ensure the patient's workup is complete for provider treatment decisions.
- Transcribe consultations or discussions with family members and the patient's private, on-call, or other physicians when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
