Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aerospace, or a related field)
  • Typically, 12+ years of progressive technical experience
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with proven experience in systems integration and testing projects, preferably within the defense or aerospace sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Comprehensive understanding of the systems engineering process, including requirements management, system design, and integration
  • Proficiency in project management, including developing and managing schedules, budgets, and resources
  • Familiarity with preparing project estimates and technical proposals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience presenting to senior leadership and external customers
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage engineering projects, ensuring successful execution from planning to delivery
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress to ensure adherence to timelines and financial constraints
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to engineering teams, ensuring that designs, specifications, and deliverables meet quality standards and customer requirements
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless project execution
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, develop contingency plans, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and reporting
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and reviews, preparing and presenting progress reports to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Maintain project documentation, including plans, reports, and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous improvement and professional development within the project team
Desired Qualifications
  • Typically 6-8 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience
  • Understanding of Earned Value Principles
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, Commercial Derivative Aircraft, FAA/DOD Airworthiness Certification, and Cybersecurity
  • Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative
  • Professional Certification in Program Management International (PMI) and/or Program Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standard
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Knowledge of software development processes and tools
