The Comprehensive Cancer Center, Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Instituteiscommitted to providing the community/region it serves withhigh-qualityservices in cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment,and rehabilitation.Under the direction of theDirector of Pharmacy– Cancer Pharmacy Services,this position leads and managespatient careservicesfor theJames Cancer Hospital oncologyoutpatientinfusion areasfor the pharmacy enterprise.The James Cancer Hospital outpatient oncology infusion includesteninfusion units ineight care locations. The pharmacy enterprise contributes to the academicand research mission of the university by training yearly almost 30 residents, publishing 42 peer-reviewed papers, and preceptingnearly10,000pharmacy student hours of experiential education.
Position Summary
This position provides management for the patient care services of the outpatient oncology infusion pharmacies.This positionassists withthe implementationand maintenanceof an enterprise-wide pharmacy practice model, specificallycontributingtothe area of oncologyoutpatientinfusionservices.This pharmacy practice model is guided by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy Practice Act (OAC4729-5).This positionis responsible fordirect supervision of aportionof theoncologyoutpatientinfusionpharmacists.Thisincludes oversight of staff in the areas of productivity, quality,cost, andcontinued compliance with all national,state,and local regulations.This position supportsThe OhioState University’s research and education missions.Forthepurposes of this job description, direct patient care services refer to the following activities:patient care rounding, order verification,medication dispensing,collaborative drug therapy management under a consult agreement, and educating patients, healthcare professionals, and students.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:This position must be a licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacyor be eligible for licensure.A B.Sc. in Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD)isrequired. An advanced administrative degree (M.S., MHA, MPH, MBA) ispreferred. Post-graduate residency training is preferred.In addition,asignificanttrack recordinscholarshipand teaching arepreferred.
