What believers are saying

  • May 2026 WCore and 450RM launches refreshed the product line quickly.
  • February 2026 over-the-air DVB-S2X testing validated WCore before field deployments.
  • January 2026 SHIELD selection opens task orders across missile defense programs.

What critics are saying

  • L3Harris-Comtech's March 2026 multi-orbit modem directly attacks iDirectGov's military edge.
  • Dependence on government task orders leaves revenue lumpy until SHIELD awards convert.
  • If software-defined rivals standardize waveforms, iDirectGov's hardware margins disappear by 2027.

What makes iDirect Government unique

  • WCore virtualizes 16 waveforms across GEO, MEO, LEO, and cloud deployments.
  • Glowlink's CSIR anti-jam tech and FIPS 140-3 Level 3 encryption harden contested links.
  • SHIELD IDIQ eligibility ties iDirectGov to Missile Defense Agency budgets through 2036.

iDirectGov releases wcore virtualization tool, supporting 16 waveforms.

iDirectGov releases wcore virtualization tool, supporting 16 waveforms. iDirectGov Releases WCore Virtualization Tool, Supporting 16 Waveforms 11 hours ago (0 Comments) Posted by: Randall Barney Share | Facebook X Email LinkedIn iDirect Government has released a new virtualization tool called WCore that supports 16 waveforms and is designed so that waveforms can be rapidly deployed, scaled, and managed. WCore is a virtualized waveform core that is designed to integrate both iDirectGov-hosted and third-party applications. The company said it eliminates the need for waveforms to interface directly with specific hardware in a way that accelerates development, simplifies integration, and supports a vendor-agnostic approach to waveform deployment. "By abstracting hardware complexity, accelerating third-party development and enabling rapid switching between waveforms, the WCore enhances both resiliency and operational agility. Its ability to unify multiple waveforms and platforms into a single, flexible framework designates it as a critical enabler for next-generation satcom environments," commented Tim Winter, iDirectGov president. Announced Monday, the WCore powered 4-Series supports approximately 16 waveforms, including Evolution Defense, Viasat GX, SES Flex, DVB-S2X, sovereign and the enhanced bandwidth efficient modem (EBEM). - More>> | " Back to Index |. iDirect Government launches WCore virtualisation layer for multi-waveform military satellite communications

iDirect Government has released WCore, a virtualised waveform core and hardware abstraction layer that transforms appliances into software-defined modems capable of operating across multiple waveforms. The technology enables military and government satellite communications to switch seamlessly between different systems and constellations. WCore eliminates the need for waveforms to interface directly with specific hardware, accelerating development and supporting vendor-agnostic deployment. The WCore-powered 4-Series supports approximately 16 waveforms, including Evolution Defense, Viasat GX and DVB-S2X, providing operational flexibility across mission sets. The system offers shared services including encryption standards and signal interference removal technology. It can be deployed on iDirectGov 4-Series hardware, software-defined modems, cloud environments or high-density hub baseband appliances, enabling continuous communications coverage across various satellite orbits.

iDirectGov releases 450 Rackmount SDM.

iDirectGov releases 450 Rackmount SDM. 0 Comments On May 12, iDirect Government (iDirectGov), a provider of satellite communications to the military and government, announced the release of the 450 Rackmount (RM) software-defined modem (SDM) that delivers resilient and secure connectivity across theatres, airspace and all mission phases. The 450RM operates on iDirectGov's Evolution Defense, Viasat GX, SES Flex and DVB-S2X networks, as well as the military-standard 188/165B Enhanced Bandwidth Efficient Modem (EBEM). It supports operations across geostationary (GEO), highly elliptical (HEO), medium Earth orbit (MEO), and low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations, while maintaining the highest security standards. Designed for space-constricted environments, the half-rack unit allows two 450RMs to be mounted side-by-side in the rack, minimizing rack space requirements while providing a protected, durable form factor. "The 450RM is resilient, secure and flexible to suit our troops' satellite communications at the tactical edge," said Tim Winter, iDirectGov president. "Its multi-technology architecture delivers optimized performance and efficient operations." The 450RM is powered by the 4-Series SDM architecture, which integrates iDirectGov's Communication Signal Interference Removal (CSIR) technology and a Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)-140-3 Level 3 approved Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Cryptographic engine for secure, resilient communications. This architecture enables a TRANSEC-compliant network design that exceeds U.S. government standards and delivers high-quality voice, video and data across contested environments.
