Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is required.
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office is required.
  • The ability to regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds is required.
  • The role requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
  • Valid work authorization in the United States is required, with documentation confirming eligibility before the start date.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the daily administrative function within the branch by providing clerical and organizational support to Operations.
  • Provide customer service and maintain accurate records while safeguarding confidential information.
  • Support the branch in meeting the goals, requests, and requirements of the division and home office.
  • Maintain the policy and procedures manual regarding branch audit requirements.
  • Coordinate audit procedures for the branch.
  • Process manual municipal and commercial bills.
  • Enter new residential accounts and work orders into the enterprise resource planning system.
  • Handle customer questions in person and by telephone.
  • Process credits and sales adjustments up to the established limit.
  • Pick up and sort incoming mail.
  • Prepare month-end reports, including landfill accrual and commodity reports, and ensure they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure affirmative action logs are accurate and complete and send them to Human Resources quarterly.
  • Order and maintain safety-related inventory and office supplies through the enterprise resource planning system.
  • Assist in training new staff on branch procedures, customer service, and computer systems.
  • Enter customer account changes and customer concerns into Tower.
  • Assist the Collections Department as needed.
  • Oversee the proper application of established employee regulations and policies within the office and safeguard confidential information.
  • Ensure billing is accurate, including roll-off work orders, and process manual billing accounts into the system.
  • For areas with landfill responsibilities, perform weigh-ins and weigh-outs, scale testing, hauling-accuracy verification, and other required duties.
  • Ensure the reception area is neat and orderly.
  • Assist the shop with administrative duties as needed.
  • Back up incoming calls and direct messages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Conform to applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, company policies, procedures, and supervisor directives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

GFL Environmental launches two RNG facilities with OPAL Fuels to power 800 heavy-duty trucks

OPAL Fuels and GFL Environmental have begun construction on two renewable natural gas facilities at landfills in Georgia and Alabama. The projects will convert landfill methane into approximately 15 million gasoline gallon equivalents of RNG annually, enough to fuel roughly 800 Class 8 trucks. The expansion deepens GFL's partnership with OPAL Fuels in decarbonising transportation and building RNG infrastructure. However, the development doesn't substantially alter GFL's near-term investment narrative, which remains focused on integrating past acquisitions, managing high leverage and delivering on 2026 revenue guidance. GFL recently authorised share buybacks of up to 34.7 million shares and increased its dividend by 10%. Analysts project the company's revenue could reach CA$8.6 billion by 2029, implying 8.8% annual growth.

GFL to acquire Secure Waste for $6.4B, adding 80+ facilities across Western Canada

GFL Environmental has agreed to acquire Secure Waste Infrastructure for $6.4 billion, expanding its presence in Western Canada and North Dakota. The deal includes over 80 locations comprising 12 landfills, 55 waste treatment facilities, 12 recycling facilities, 98 injection wells and five transfer stations. Secure shareholders can choose $24.75 in cash, 0.4195 GFL subordinate voting shares, or a combination for each share held. Cash payments are capped at 20% of the total consideration, with GFL shares limited to 80%. GFL founder and CEO Patrick Dovigi said the acquisition will densify the company's Western Canada footprint and enhance its ability to offer comprehensive waste management services. The transaction requires shareholder approval and is expected to close in the second half of 2025.
