Requirements
  • A degree-level qualification at Level 6 or 7, or equivalent.
  • Significant leadership experience with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, contract management, and project delivery.
  • A Category C driving licence.
  • Experience managing budgets, producing reports, and developing departmental plans.

  • A commitment to supporting safe and effective emergency response for the people of Suffolk.
Responsibilities
  • Develop vehicle and equipment specifications and manage procurement and contract processes for the Service's capital replacement programme.
  • Lead and support teams based at Phoenix House and Anson Road, Martlesham, fostering a positive, high-performing, and collaborative working environment.
  • Represent Fleet Services at strategic forums, including Programme Boards, Continuous Improvement Boards, and Workforce Planning meetings.
  • Build relationships with regional and national Transport Officer Group networks to share knowledge, collaborate, and implement best practice.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and solutions on fleet-related matters and influence service-wide decision-making.
  • Manage projects from conception through delivery, ensuring objectives, budgets, and timescales are achieved.
  • Monitor and report on revenue and capital budgets, ensuring resources are managed effectively and procurement projects deliver value for money.
  • Explore emerging technologies and opportunities that enhance fleet capability, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Work with operational and corporate teams across the organisation to build partnerships that support service delivery.
  • Inspire, mentor, and develop colleagues across the Fleet Team and wider Fire and Rescue Service.
  • Lead and support the Fleet Team responsible for vehicle and equipment maintenance, stores and logistics, and procurement and management of key assets.
Desired Qualifications
  • Engineering or Motor Vehicle qualifications at HNC or HND level.
