- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
- Bachelor’s degree and TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification
- At least two years’ experience teaching English as a second language
- Familiarity with refugee resettlement programs and processes
- Plan and teach two daily English classes for recently-arrived adult refugee and immigrant learners
- Utilize program curriculum to build English communication skills for employment, community navigation, and social connection
- Orient new students, track participation, and refer students for support services as needed
- Welcome and orient new volunteers, and connect them to students for 1:1 tutoring
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and tracking for volunteers
- Participate in Resettlement Team meetings and trainings
- Manage student records in an organized and confidential manner
- Maintain close communication with students and other staff
- Ensure compliance with grantor funding through the North Carolina State Refugee Office
- Create client notes in Microsoft Dynamics and record individual client service data in the NC Refugee Information System database
- Collaborate with other WR Durham staff involved in teaching various classes to support the successful integration of newly arrived refugees
- Assist with team projects and related tasks as needed
