Requirements
  • Three years of professional food service experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain an up-to-date California Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Have employment eligibility verification.
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training.
  • Successfully complete a tuberculosis test, background screening, and drug test as a condition of hire.
  • Have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties, and the ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Provide guests with a home-like environment during their stay in the PATH Interim Housing program and follow established values, guidelines, and rules.
  • Assist volunteers by providing necessary food safety support.
  • Oversee the preparation of large quantities of food through staggered cooking, heating, and baking.
  • Prepare food and beverages according to standardized recipes, production sheets, and menus.
  • Ensure meals are served at established times and organize duties so food is prepared for service at appropriate times and temperatures.
  • Ensure the commercial kitchen runs smoothly by coordinating staff schedules, stocking supplies, coordinating meal deliveries to offsite locations, and delegating tasks.
  • Monitor food inventory levels and request, store, label, rotate, and dispose of perishable and non-perishable food and supplies.
  • Maintain health and safety codes in accordance with Department of Public Health standards, including food handling, sanitation, cleanliness, and reporting issues to management.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions during food preparation and delivery by following infection control procedures and cleaning work areas and equipment, including walls and floors.
  • Assist with recipe development, recipe modification, and posting the monthly site menu.
  • Manage and maintain the guest dietary restriction list and ensure guests receive approved meals.
  • Assist with organizing, preparing, and setting up on-site special events, including barbecues, holiday events, and ice cream socials.
  • Properly operate electric, gas, and steam equipment, including setting up a portable steam table for dining-room service, and maintain equipment in sanitary and operating condition.
  • Pick up and drop off food donations and meals at multiple sites using a PATH company vehicle.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree or diploma from a culinary program.
  • Five years of experience in a professional kitchen.
