Requirements
  • Ingenuity is critical for success in this role. You will engage the complete development lifecycle from desktop engineering design and simulation to hands-on automotive integration and root-cause analysis
  • The opportunity offers a technical, hands-on engineer the chance to help develop a market-defining enterprise product that combines autonomous vehicle technology with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model
  • This role will work directly with our Director of Hardware
  • Qualifications
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution, PCB assembly, modifications and repairs to SMT boards down to 0402 component sizes, high and low voltage wiring harnesses and circuit protection devices with the use of tools and processes such as oscilloscopes, micropencil, and PIDG Crimps (crimp inspection)
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, including fabrication, design, and
  • General Assembly and CAD design, including common subtractive and additive manufacturing methods
  • Thorough understanding of DFM, DFA, DFT, and DFR principles for both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Candidates with unconventional experiences especially encouraged
  • Willingness to get hands-on and have lots of fun
  • Multiple years of experience in hardware design and assembly of both mechanical and electrical systems
  • High-performing power electronics experience including comfort developing for high-voltage (60-1500VDC and 30-1000VAC) as defined by ECE/324/Rev.2, servicing industrial batteries of varied chemistries, and implementing wide-ranging DC-DC and DC-AC converters
  • Background in safety-critical software/system development (preferably a ground robotics functional safety standard such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508)
  • Prior experience developing and supporting all aspects of autonomy for a production ground-vehicle subsystem, or research prototype (end-to-end, full lifecycle development preferred)
  • Startup experience
  • Comprehensive profile of personal projects relating to mechatronics systems
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve the reliability of current vehicle autonomy systems, including all electrical and mechanical aspects of our autonomous sensing and actuation platform, as well as the base vehicle itself
  • Define, lead, and own the hands-on creation of new vehicle platform integrations to expand the compatibility of our autonomy systems with a broad range of airport vehicles, interacting with suppliers and vendors as appropriate
  • Function as a responsible engineer, owning the systems integration of sensors, electronics, and mechanical components on vehicles
  • Communicate cross-functionally to ensure mechanical mounts and subsystems are compatible and ready to integrate
  • Understand and keep up to date with automotive and robotics safety standards
  • Up to 50% travel may be required
