Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in student health services, public health, or a related field, combined with demonstrated leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Maintain appropriate professional licensure and credentials, if applicable, and ensure credentialing, privileging, and continuing education compliance for clinical staff.
  • Provide leadership and guidance regarding Federal Aviation Administration medical certification and ongoing medical eligibility.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and their implications for student health and flight eligibility.
  • Serve as essential personnel during campus emergencies, public health events, and crisis response efforts.
  • Serve as a campus public health leader in coordination with local and county health officials.
  • Serve on the Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation Team.
  • Complete submissions must include a cover letter, full resume, and contact information for at least three professional references.
Responsibilities
  • Provide visionary and strategic leadership for the Department of Health Services.
  • Establish departmental priorities, goals, and performance metrics supporting access, quality, efficiency, and student well-being.
  • Lead comprehensive budget planning and fiscal oversight, including revenue generation, expense management, and long-range financial sustainability.
  • Oversee facility operations and infrastructure, including clinic space, security, workflows, onboarding, technology systems, electronic health records, and software platforms.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a multidisciplinary clinical and administrative team, including medical providers, nursing staff, medical billing, and health insurance compliance personnel.
  • Provide oversight of contracted healthcare employees, ensuring accountability, quality, and service alignment with institutional needs.
  • Prepare and present utilization, financial, compliance, and assessment reports for divisional and university leadership.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, student-centered clinical care in compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, state licensing requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Lead quality assurance, peer review, and continuous improvement initiatives to promote clinical excellence and patient safety.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in college health, public health guidance, and best practices to adapt services.
  • Design, implement, and assess health promotion, prevention, and wellness initiatives responsive to the student population.
  • Use data, utilization trends, and student feedback to improve service delivery, outreach, and access.
  • Oversee strategic marketing and communication efforts using campus platforms such as Campus Groups.
  • Develop outcome measures and assessment tools to demonstrate impact and inform decision-making.
  • Serve as a liaison and strategic partner to Student Affairs, Flight, Athletics, Reserve Officer Training Corps, Counseling Services, Housing and Residence Life, and Campus Safety.
  • Foster collaborative relationships to ensure coordinated care, operational continuity, and student readiness.
  • Maintain relationships with external vendors and software providers such as Pyramed, managing service agreements and performance expectations.
  • Partner with the Alcohol and Other Drug Committee to ensure compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act and related mandates.
  • Coordinate directly with flight students regarding initial medical applications, deferrals, and medical eligibility concerns.
  • Provide guidance on Federal Aviation Administration medical certification and special issuance procedures and support navigation of the Federal Aviation Administration medical review process.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to flight leadership, including communication outside traditional business hours when required.
  • Collaborate proactively to mitigate risk and support student progression in aviation programs.
  • Act as a campus public health leader in coordination with local and county health officials, leading responses to communicable disease outbreaks and emerging health threats.
  • Represent the Division of Student Affairs on university committees, task forces, and professional organizations.
  • Support divisional initiatives, special projects, and institutional priorities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in University Health Services, Healthcare Management, Leadership, Administration or Nursing.
  • Experience with the Federal Aviation Administration medical certification process is preferred but not required.
  • Readiness to engage in professional development opportunities to support the unique health and regulatory needs of the aviation programs.
  • Current and valid nursing licensing to practice nursing in the state of Florida is preferred but not required.
