- Must have 4+ years’ experience as a Boilermaker
- Must have NCCER Boilermaker and/or Pipefitter certifications.
- NCCCO Crane Operator certification and experience operating small and large cranes.
- Experience in Petro Chem or Refinery
- Must possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions (see below).
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
- Must be able to work at heights in excess of 300 ft.
- Must have all required tools.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment contingencies to include but not limited to physical, drug screen and MVR.
- Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
- Identify all tools required for tasks.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Hoist equipment and tools into location via bull rigging or crane.
- Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels.
- Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
- Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.
- Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.
- Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.
- ZACHRY safety policy not to hire individuals who use illegal hard drugs and requires pre-employment drug screen.
- Experience in steel erection in Petrochemical or Refinery
- Ability to pass all pre-employment contingencies including but not limited to physical, drug screen and MVR
- NCCCO Crane Operator certification and experience operating small and large cranes
- Leadership Abilities (Ability to take lead in erection of steel, fabrication, grid layout, rigging etc.)
- Drawings (Ability to read IFC drawings, make hang list, read details off drawings, read all notes on drawings before erection, locate and understand ECN’s and holds on drawings, understand when to stop production work and when a RFI needs to be initiated, read and understand craft specs and cut sheets, craft spec procedures and recommendations, locate piece marks, know installation orientation, knowledge of symbols)
- Rigging (Knowledge of all types of safe rigging practices)
- Connection (Know all aspects of connecting, correct procedures of Bolting, Torque vs Tension)
- Fabrication (Ability to read cut sheets, lay out from drawing, cut material from lay out and cut sheets)
- Torque vs. Tension (Knowledge of Torque and Values, Tension, Turn of the nut method, indicators, how to use a skidmore)
- Plan work and execute (Ability to take drawings, required material, line out helpers and execute work)
- Tools and knowledge (Knowledge of specialty tools such as torque wrench, skidmore, torque guns, mag drills, hogan drills)
- Welding and cutting (Basic knowledge of welding, cutting torch setup, dangers, usage, tips)
- Equipment Knowledge (Knowledge of JLG’s man baskets, cranes, Basic maintenance, safe operations)
- Math Skills (Footage, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions)
- Must be willing to perform any additional duties as instructed.

Zachry Group awarded Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource's Combined Cycle Generation Project. SAN ANTONIO-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Zachry Group (Zachry) has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource Inc.'s Combined Cycle Generation Project, a major infrastructure project located near Wheatfield, Indiana. The facility will support NiSource's delivery of electricity to a third-party customer and includes two nominal 1,300-megawatt gas-fired combined cycle units in a 2 x 2 x 1 configuration. A subsidiary of NiSource Inc. will own and operate the facility. The EPC contract will be executed by a joint venture between Zachry Group and Quanta Services, Inc. (Quanta). Zachry will lead engineering, procurement, project management, construction planning, and commissioning, drawing on its five decades of experience designing and building over 100 gas-fired facilities totaling more than 60,000 megawatts. Quanta will contribute field-level leadership and craft workforce management through its operating companies. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance execution certainty, optimize labor resources, and deliver cost-effective, high-quality infrastructure. Shortly after the company pulled away from the natural gas project, the Zachry Holdings subsidiary (Zachry Industrial Inc.) laid off more than 4,000 workers.
BEAUMONT, Texas - Zachry Holdings has once again found itself facing scrutiny, after laying off 126 more people between Beaumont, Orange, Sabine Pass, and Baytown.
As the lead contractor in charge of staffing construction activities, Zachry's financial issues and ongoing bankruptcy proceedings have prevented the remaining contractors from resuming large-scale construction.
