Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is required.
  • Alaska Professional Engineer registration is required.
  • A minimum of four years of engineering experience is required, with a background in transportation, water, wastewater, and/or site civil design.
  • A solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions and constraints, is required.
  • A proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets is required.
  • Demonstrated skills developing relationships with municipal and state agencies in support of transportation and/or site civil projects are required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft software applications is required.
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three years are required for eligibility under the company vehicle insurance policy.
  • The employee must be willing and able to travel occasionally to remote locations in Alaska, including travel in small aircraft.
  • The employee must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently sit, stand, walk, use their hands and fingers, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, see, taste or smell, and carry weight or lift.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in marketing, write proposals, win work, and develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Initiate, plan, execute, and close small- to medium-sized transportation and/or site civil projects.
  • Perform design tasks and/or lead a design team on civil projects, including water and sewer, landfill, general utility, and various site civil development projects.
  • Coordinate the work of a design team and outside consultants to develop plans, specifications, and estimate packages for multiple projects and a variety of clients.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships, ensure client satisfaction, and ensure client objectives are met.
  • Train and mentor young professionals.
  • Perform other duties pertinent to the success of the department or unit.
  • Work primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled office environment.
  • Travel up to 25% to various locations within the United States and/or remote locations, using alternative transportation modes when required, including snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and all-terrain vehicles.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with projects in rural Alaska and/or cold regions is preferred.
