Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar position of 3 months or longer.
  • Basic knowledge of customer service principles, the food server function, and restaurant and kitchen operations.
  • Knowledge of standard cash-handling procedures.
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Vision ability to clearly see detailed guest checks, computer printouts, written instructions, and the entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions.
  • Manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items in hand, and balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, including serving trays, carts, tables, chairs, and small equipment, for up to 75% of the time.
  • Full range of mobility and ability to travel up to 300 feet regularly throughout the shift.
  • Moderate hearing to hear customers and supervisors and communicate with other staff.
  • Excellent vision to see that products are prepared appropriately.
  • Moderate comprehension and literacy to read use records and special requests.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain organized and pay attention to sound and visual details in crowded and noisy situations, particularly while handling multiple tasks.
  • Ability to use tact and understanding when handling varied customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and walk, lift, and carry throughout the shift in an indoor environment.
Responsibilities
  • Greet restaurant customers, take food and drink orders, serve orders, and accommodate special needs or requests.
  • Remain attentive to customers throughout the dining experience while meeting or exceeding restaurant service standards.
  • Complete restocking and cleaning duties through instructed opening and closing sidework.
  • Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations to customers.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards in the restaurant, waitstation, and kitchen service area to provide a clean and presentable facility and satisfy state and local health board requirements.
  • Control allocated guest checks by following check-use procedures and documenting required information as orders are taken and processed.
  • Receive guest payments and ensure the accuracy of guest checks and payment methods to safeguard the customer and company.
  • Attend pre-meal and departmental meetings in person to improve communication and gain knowledge of products, service, and the facility.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and comments in person and by phone with timely and knowledgeable information.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • Perform other duties assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
