Requirements
  • A high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • A Food Safety Handler Card is required within the first week of employment.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a psychiatric hospital environment.
  • Candidates must be able to work day, weekend, or evening shifts with 48-hour notice and be available for on-call shifts.
  • Candidates must maintain an excellent attendance record and be flexible in job assignments and work hours to meet patient-care and operating needs.
  • Candidates must be able to concentrate amid noise, conversations, and foot traffic and work independently in a restricted physical environment for extended periods.
  • Candidates must be able to use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers, and dishwashers.
  • Candidates must understand hygiene factors involved in food preparation.
  • Candidates must maintain patient confidentiality, including care and dietary information and confidential internal company information.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Candidates must be able to give and follow detailed verbal and written instructions, coordinate multiple tasks, and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Candidates must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp, perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions, and perceive size, shape, temperature, and texture by touch.
  • Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Candidates must have hearing sufficient to perceive sounds and detailed oral communication, with or without correction.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in providing quality meals and nutritional services to patients, staff, and guests.
  • Assemble and prepare food and snacks as directed.
  • Organize and deliver prepared food to patient areas.
  • Process, store, and prepare food within required timelines.
  • Maintain kitchen sanitation for food preparation, dish room activities, and personal hygiene.
  • Document food labeling, dating, and kitchen procedures consistently.
  • Serve behavioral health patients and staff in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
  • Perform related duties as requested.
  • Uphold the organization's ethics and customer service standards.
