Redwood Materials focuses on battery recycling and the supply chain for lithium-ion batteries. The company transforms used batteries into valuable materials, specifically anodes and cathodes, which are essential for battery production. By recycling batteries, Redwood Materials creates a domestic source for these critical components, reducing the reliance on overseas suppliers and the associated costs and environmental impact. This approach not only addresses the sustainability challenges in battery production but also supports U.S. cell manufacturers in lowering their expenses. Unlike competitors, Redwood Materials emphasizes large-scale recycling to provide a more sustainable and cost-effective solution for the growing demand for lithium-ion batteries, which is expected to increase significantly by 2030. The company's goal is to create a more efficient and environmentally friendly supply chain for battery production in North America.
