Requirements
  • A Pharmacy degree, specifically a Pharm.D. or Bachelor of Pharmacy, from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education-accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Five years of experience; alternatively, three years of experience with completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited postgraduate year one residency, or one year of experience with completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited postgraduate year two residency.
  • A pharmacist license in the applicable state of work location.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • One Board of Pharmacy Specialties board certification, such as Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist, Board Certified Cardiology Pharmacist, Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist, Board Certified Emergency Medicine Pharmacist, Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist, Board Certified Nuclear Pharmacist, Board Certified Nutrition Support Pharmacist, Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist, Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist, Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist, Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist, or Board Certified Transplant Pharmacist.
  • The role requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 0–25 pounds; frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot, leg, hand, and arm movements; frequent near and far vision, depth perception, color identification, hearing, oral communication, and keyboard use; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and handling objects weighing 25–50 pounds; and rare climbing.
Responsibilities
  • Organize and lead a residency advisory committee that provides guidance for residency program conduct and related issues.
  • Oversee residents’ progression within the program and document completed requirements.
  • Appoint and develop pharmacy staff to become preceptors using criteria consistent with those required by the accrediting organization.
  • Evaluate, assess the skills of, and develop program preceptors, and create and implement a preceptor development plan for the residency program.
  • Assume the role of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-defined Residency Program Director or Residency Coordinator.
  • Precept pharmacy students and residents, as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Clinical pharmacy experience with demonstrated knowledge of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists residency program management and accreditation.
  • Experience in educational leadership, curriculum development, and program compliance.
