Requirements
  • An advanced clinical degree in a life-science or basic-science discipline, such as MD, DO, PharmD, NP, PA, DNP, M.Sc, or Ph.D., and industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison.
  • Significant clinical or industry experience in malignant hematology, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, cellular therapy, CAR-T, immune effector cell therapies, or other advanced therapy modalities.
  • Strong understanding of the cell therapy ecosystem, including transplant center operations, apheresis and cell processing workflows, treatment center authorization, patient referral pathways, and competitive cell therapy products.
  • Strong understanding of clinical development, regulatory requirements, and commercial strategies.
  • Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and present complex scientific data to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to serve internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in stem cell transplantation, cell therapy, and the evolving cellular immunotherapy landscape, providing scientific insights on treatment paradigms, clinical operations, patient access, and the competitive landscape.
  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with academic stem cell therapy experts, thought leaders, healthcare providers, and access stakeholders within the designated geography.
  • Prepare and maintain a territory management plan for Medical Leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide medical support for onboarding activities related to authorizing treatment centers, adverse event reporting, handling out-of-specification products, and payer medical education and support.
  • Maintain current knowledge of hematologic malignancies, stem cell transplantation, cell therapy, cellular immunotherapy, and competitive developments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the Investigator-Sponsored Trial program, supporting research concepts, proposal and protocol development, review committee presentations, governance communications, study oversight, publication planning, and dissemination of results.
  • Gather and communicate scientific insights and stakeholder feedback to leadership and cross-functional partners to inform medical strategy, evidence-generation priorities, and lifecycle planning.
  • Provide scientific and clinical expertise through advisory boards, investigator meetings, roundtable discussions, educational meetings, professional organizations, advocacy groups, GPOs, networked practices, and speaker bureaus.
  • Support clinical trial activities, including patient recruitment and enrollment and discussions on the safe and effective use of investigational products, while applying Good Clinical Practice knowledge.
  • Lead the collection, analysis, synthesis, and dissemination of scientific information presented at congresses and during scientific exchange.
  • Translate clinical trial data, competitive intelligence, and stakeholder feedback into recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate other Medical Science Liaisons when assigned to provide coverage for a specific congress.
  • Provide medical and scientific support for health outcomes, real-world evidence, and payer/provider engagement strategies.
  • Initiate and execute projects aligned with scientific, clinical, and business operations in partnership with research, clinical development, commercial, market access, regulatory, and quality functions.
  • Provide education and training to commercial marketing and sales teams on therapies and disease states.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with health economics and outcomes research data.
  • Five or more years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison.
  • Experience with field medical launch planning, execution, and post-launch support.
  • Direct experience supporting cell therapy, stem cell transplantation, CAR-T, or other advanced therapeutic platforms.
  • Experience working in a small biotechnology company or start-up environment.

FDA approves Tregzi, first donor immune cell therapy cutting serious transplant complications in blood cancer patients by 70%

The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Tregzi, the first regulatory T cell-based immunotherapy for improving chronic graft-versus-host disease-free survival in adult blood cancer patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. The treatment uses donor-derived immune cells to help fight cancer whilst reducing the risk of chronic GVHD, a serious complication where transplanted donor cells attack the patient's body. In the PRECISION-T trial involving 187 patients, 78% of those receiving Tregzi achieved chronic GVHD-free survival at one year, compared to 38.4% receiving standard transplants. Only 12.6% of Tregzi patients developed serious chronic GVHD within one year versus 44% in the control group. The treatment, developed by Orca Biosystems, received Orphan Drug and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy designations.

Orca Bio has secured FDA approval for Tregzi, a first-of-its-kind engineered cell therapy for blood cancer patients requiring transplants. The allogeneic regulatory T cell-based immunotherapy is approved as an alternative stem cell transplant to improve survival free of chronic graft-versus-host disease in adults with hematological malignancies. In the phase 3 Precision-T trial involving 187 patients, 78% who received Tregzi were alive and free from chronic GVHD at one year, compared to 38% with standard transplants—a 74% improvement. Overall survival was 94% versus 83%. Orca is pricing Tregzi at $428,000 wholesale acquisition cost. The company recently raised $250 million and is launching at select centres, aiming for 25 by year-end. CEO Nate Fernhoff said the company is "well capitalised" for launch but didn't rule out a future IPO.

Orca Bio's TREGZI becomes first FDA-approved precision cell therapy for blood cancer transplants

Orca Bio has received US FDA approval for TREGZI, the first precision-engineered cell therapy for matched-donor hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in adults with hematological malignancies. The therapy uses donor cells to reconstitute the immune system whilst suppressing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). The approval is based on the Phase 3 Precision-T study of 187 patients with acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and mixed-phenotype acute leukaemia. Results showed 78% chronic GVHD-free survival at 12 months with TREGZI compared to 38% with conventional transplant. Overall survival was 94% versus 83%, whilst non-relapse mortality was 3% compared to 13%. TREGZI is a personalised treatment manufactured for each patient using living cells from a matched donor.

Orca Bio has expanded its manufacturing capabilities ahead of the potential launch of its lead cell therapy, Orca-T, adding East Coast manufacturing capacity in Princeton, New Jersey, and tripling its West Coast manufacturing workforce in Sacramento, California. The Princeton facility will serve as a strategic East Coast manufacturing bridge, initially producing therapies for ongoing clinical programmes and supporting commercial production following potential FDA approval. The bicoastal network aims to reduce "vein-to-vein" time for patients nationwide.
