JYSK expands in Ukraine despite wartime retail disruption.

JYSK expands in Ukraine despite wartime retail disruption. by Roman Cheplyk Thursday, August 27, 2026 The chain opened two new stores and one rebuilt location, taking its Ukrainian network above Denmark by store count JYSK's latest openings show how Ukrainian retail is rebuilding and expanding even while air alerts, damaged malls and logistics pressure remain part of daily business. The company opened new stores in Kyiv's RayON shopping center and in Brovary's Inzhur shopping center, while also reopening a rebuilt location in Kryvyi Rih's Victory Plaza. Country director Yevhen Ivanytsia framed the openings as a milestone: the Ukrainian network has now exceeded the number of JYSK stores in Denmark, the brand's home market. That is notable not because Ukraine is an easy retail environment, but because it is not. Retailers operate through night attacks, morning alerts, uneven regional demand and constant adjustments to supply chains and staffing. The Kryvyi Rih context underlines the pressure. JYSK previously lost a store in the destroyed Sonyachna Galereya mall, while some goods survived and may be sold separately as recovered stock. Another store, in Dnipro's Karavan mall, was damaged on August 25 and remains temporarily closed, although the company says it is technically ready to reopen. For a retailer selling home goods, every reopening is also a test of insurance, repairs, inventory movement and customer confidence. JYSK's Ukrainian footprint now includes 119 stores in 40 cities and an online shop, with almost 1,000 employees. The company has also signed new leases for a second store in Uzhhorod and a first store in Sambir, with the Zakarpattia location expected before year-end. The westward expansion reflects both demand and the need to balance regional risk across the network. Financially, the local business has been growing. According to YouControl data cited in the report, JYSK Ukraine's revenue for January-September 2025 rose 24% year on year to UAH 5.3 billion, while net profit increased 22% to UAH 959 million. In a wartime economy, those numbers point to a broader pattern: households continue to repair, furnish, relocate and invest in everyday comfort, while retailers that can keep logistics stable gain share. JYSK to invest €60M in 120 new stores across Iberia.

JYSK to invest €60M in 120 new stores across Iberia. The chain plans to open between 80 and 100 stores in Spain and will expand its presence in both shopping centres and retail parks, as well as high-street locations. JYSK will invest €60 million to open 120 new shops on the Iberian Peninsula over the next four years, an expansion plan that will expand its presence across shopping centres, retail parks and high-street locations. The Spanish market will account for the bulk of this growth, with between 80 and 100 new stores, while Portugal will see its current network increase by approximately 50%. The company plans to open around 30 openings per year, which will enable the company to significantly exceed the current total of around 230 stores it operates in both countries. The brand will maintain a flexible expansion model, with openings in both large cities and smaller towns, as well as new outlets in city centres, retail parks and shopping centres - formats that will continue to form part of its expansion strategy. The new stores will have an average floor area of 1,300 sqm and stock around 2,000 products. Their offer will be complemented by JYSK's unified retail model, integrating online sales, home delivery and click-and-collect services. The plan will also have an impact on employment. According to the company's forecasts, each new store opening will generate around ten direct jobs, which would mean the creation of some 1,200 jobs in Iberia over the next four years.

European rolloutvusion delivers 4.2 million ESL to Jysk.

European rolloutvusion delivers 4.2 million ESL to Jysk. Danish furniture retailer Jysk is digitizing its price tags and moving its entire IT infrastructure to the cloud, partnering with Vusion on both projects across Europe. July 3, 2026 by Valentin Klaß Jysk and French retail-tech firm Vusion have worked together for a decade, and now they're expanding that partnership across Europe. The two companies are focusing on two projects: digitizing shelf labels and moving Jysk's IT infrastructure to Vusion's cloud platform. In total, they plan to install 4.2 million electronic shelf labels (ESL). The first phase covers roughly 1.2 million ESL in Jysk's Nordic stores, followed by about 3 million more across 750 stores throughout Europe. Vusioncloud in 2,500 Jysk stores. Vusion will also migrate Jysk's IT systems to its cloud platform. Some 2,500 Jysk stores in Northern Europe, the DACH region, and the Benelux countries will move their infrastructure to Vusioncloud, which Jysk expects will streamline operations and speed up delivery cycles. Vusion says the platform will also standardize business processes across stores. "As we continue modernizing our stores across Europe, we're investing in solutions that give us more scalability, operational efficiency, and flexibility going forward," says Carsten Nørgreen Weinkouff, Executive Vice President Retail Development, Marketing, E-Commerce & Omnichannel at Jysk. Sébastien Fourcy, Senior Executive Vice President EMA at Vusion, adds: "This milestone with Jysk shows the strength of long-term customer partnerships and the accelerating shift toward cloud-native retail platforms." Vusion also active at Walmart. Walmart is running a similar project, replacing analog price tags with digital ones in 2,300 U.S. stores, with Mexican stores planning a large-scale ESL rollout next. The Jysk-Vusion deal reflects a broader shift toward digital retail ecosystems, where real-time pricing and consistent communication matter more. Store staff benefit too: less time swapping tags means more time for customers.
