  • Hands-on CNC machining experience with a minimum of three-axis machining; multi-axis experience is a plus.
  • Strong CAM and feeds-and-speeds intuition for aluminum and steel.
  • Experience with metrology, including coordinate measuring machines and height gauges, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Able to work on-site in San Francisco five days per week, or six days per week during crunch time.
Responsibilities
  • Own the machine shop by operating and maintaining metal manufacturing equipment, including the drill press, CNC router, CNC mill, sheet metal brake, and band saw.
  • Own CAM and workholding by running Fusion 360, designing fixturing and soft jaws, and holding aerospace-style tolerances on aluminum and steel parts.
  • Provide design feedback to improve design for manufacturing and design for assembly, and help engineers design parts that are faster and cheaper to make.
  • Manage external vendors for harder geometries so the in-house shop stays focused on critical-path work.
  • Build repeatable processes so common parts run without rework, and document setups, fixtures, and tooling.
