Requirements
  • A track record of shipping and owning production systems end to end.
  • Experience hiring, growing and leading a small engineering team, with evidence of developing engineers.
  • Strong backend depth, ideally Node.js or TypeScript in production, with the ability to read C# and Python.
  • Experience owning architecture for distributed, event-driven systems involving APIs, queues, workers and storage.
  • An outcome-focused, hands-on approach with a deep understanding of the systems being built and comfort working in the code.
  • Genuine product sense and comfort working directly with customers.
  • Clear communication across deeply technical, semi-technical and plain-language conversations.
Responsibilities
  • Own the technical direction of the platform, including the knowledge graph, entity-resolution layer and overall architecture.
  • Hire and grow the engineering team and set the bar for subsequent hires.
  • Establish engineering standards and operating practices for code review, releases, on-call, and work prioritization.
  • Write and review code while remaining hands-on in the engineering work.
  • Work with the CTO to encode structural-engineering reasoning about columns, load paths and revisions into the data model.
  • Work with the Head of Product to build and execute the product roadmap, translate design-partner feedback into shipped features, and own engineering delivery.
  • Ship new capabilities quickly while protecting the reliability of the production product.
  • Own the platform's deployment and reliability, including its continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Implement appropriate end-to-end tests, unit tests or evaluation harnesses for pull requests.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building an engineering function from a handful of people into a team.
  • Production experience with large-language-model or retrieval-augmented-generation pipelines, including embeddings, vector search and retrieval-quality measurement.
  • Experience with graph-based data models, entity resolution or knowledge-graph tooling.
  • Experience with Autodesk Platform Services or AEC data formats such as IFC, Revit, ETABS or SAFE.
  • A background in construction, structural-engineering software or document-intensive vertical software as a service.

Bite Engineering builds an AI-powered operating system for the building design and construction (AEC) industry. It provides AI agents that automate repetitive tasks for engineers and consultants, coordinate workflows across different design and project-management tools, and offer instant access to company knowledge. The platform works by integrating with existing software used in AEC projects and running automated tasks through intelligent agents, effectively turning manual work into AI-driven processes and speeding up project delivery. What sets Bite apart is its focus on an AI operating system tailored to AEC, combining workflow automation, multi-tool coordination, and centralized knowledge access, built by a team with engineering and ML experience. The company’s goal is to replace human hours spent on routine tasks with AI, thereby elevating and compounding engineers’ and consultants’ expertise and speeding up project delivery.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 funding reached $2.1 million, extending runway beyond Antler’s February pre-seed.
  • Daniel Anyanya reported two recurring commercial contracts and £200K+ immediate pipeline in May 2026.
  • WSP UK placed Bite in its 2026 Digital Innovation Strategy, opening £400K opportunity.

What critics are saying

  • Procore’s August 2026 DroneDeploy deal and agents bundle threatens Bite’s wedge.
  • AEC buyers demand citations, governance, and integrations; weak trust kills deployment speed.
  • A failed WSP deployment or delayed renewals can starve Bite before product-market fit.

What makes Bite Engineering unique

  • Bite targets structural engineering workflows, not generic AEC chat, with agentic task execution.
  • Its platform turns firm knowledge into context bridges, accelerating repetitive design and review work.
  • By May 2026, users uploaded 300+ structural projects daily, proving real workflow depth.
