- Ability to meet the physical and environmental demands of the role, including frequent lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, frequent climbing, crawling, crouching or stooping, and constant standing, pushing or pulling, twisting, and walking, is required.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatments and interventions for patients.
- Educate patients and potentially family members about the nature and status of the patient's condition, diet, associated medication or treatment side effects, and the importance of complying with medication schedules.
- Ensure patient safety.
- Coordinate referrals to services within and outside the immediate area or unit.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Function as a preceptor in accordance with University of Mississippi Medical Center guidelines.
- Report patient issues or concerns to the supervisor as appropriate.
- Serve on at least one nursing council, hospital or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or the work area.
- Coordinate clinical-area operations, including patient scheduling, maintaining patient records, and managing the patient admissions process.
- Counsel patients and family members on patient treatment and conditions.
- Act as a liaison between case managers, home health nurses, utilization review, and related services.
- Coordinate patient services and care.
- Perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose.
- Participate in call when required by the department.
