About the Role
As a Head of Safety & Compliance, you will lead the safety & compliance strategy and organization, focused on managing enterprise risk for aifleet. The Head of Safety & Compliance is responsible for continuous safety performance improvement through risk identification, mitigation, and process excellence. With a small team reporting to you, you will play a critical role in maintaining our operations’ safety and compliance and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and promote consistent and effective safety programs / practices in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements, updating and refining to reflect best practices in the industry and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Review key performance indicators and metrics to monitor safety and compliance performance at aifleet, regularly analyzing data and preparing reports on safety-related trends, issues, and areas of improvement
- Coordinate with the senior leadership team, as well as operations and equipment teams, in crafting and executing on short and long-term strategies that contribute to our culture of safety at aifleet
- Oversee and manage the accident reporting and investigation process, determining underlying causes, identifying trends, and developing strategies to prevent future occurrences. Ensure accurate records and documentation of all incidents through auditing and reviewing with the greater S&C team.
- Effectively manage the team to ensure compliance with regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration , acting as a resource for them.
- Represent aifleet in grievance procedure with safety related issues.
Who (we think) You Are
While roles and priorities continue to evolve, we think you will need the following qualifications. If you feel you could drive impact in this role at aifleet and do not meet some of the following criteria, please do not hesitate to apply:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in transportation safety and compliance, preferably in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of applicable transportation regulations, including but not limited to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Proven track record of conducting safety audits, investigations, and managing compliance inspections.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical solutions
- Process oriented, with a proven ability to be a change agent across business functions
- Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively follow up on multiple outstanding requests
- Comfortable in a fluid working environment, keeping up with changing industry standards and evolving internal context
