Requirements
  • Active knowledge of integrated communications principles and strategies.
  • Understanding of client business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors.
  • Understanding and ability to implement communications programs.
  • Experience identifying and working with target media and a network of traditional and online media contacts and influencers.
  • Ability to write media advisories, pitch letters and emails, biographies, reports, social media content and fact sheets while adhering to Associated Press Style.
  • Understanding of basic social media tools, including blogs, social media networks, RSS feeds and microblogging.
  • Understanding of project budget parameters, pricing structures and over-service.
  • Ability to manage third-party vendors.
  • Ability to use organizational skills to manage projects, workflows, logistics and deadlines.
  • Ability to participate in new business processes, including lead identification, research, audits, proposal preparation and new business pitches.
  • Ability to manage and delegate to assistant account executives and interns by setting expectations and deadlines, providing resources, monitoring progress and providing feedback.
  • Ability to contribute to performance appraisal processes.
  • Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and trends and understand how they integrate into communications programs.
  • Ability to submit time, expenses and purchase orders to the correct project codes on time.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to daily account work and larger projects as directed by senior account leaders.
  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact and drive key workstreams forward to achieve client objectives on time and on budget.
  • Identify and work with target media and influencers as part of media relations activities.
  • Write client materials including media advisories, pitch letters and emails, biographies, reports, social media content and fact sheets.
  • Participate in and assist with program brainstorming, development and planning.
  • Manage projects while coordinating with colleagues, vendors and support agencies and keeping project leaders informed of status.
  • Provide account administration, including attending client meetings and conference calls, troubleshooting problems, meeting deadlines and reporting activity and coverage.
  • Coordinate communications tactics by managing workflow, logistics and interaction with media and influencers.
  • Manage third-party vendors.
  • Participate in the new business process, including lead identification, research, audits, proposal preparation and support for new business pitches.
  • Manage and delegate to assistant account executives and interns, including setting expectations and deadlines, providing resources, monitoring progress and providing feedback.
  • Contribute to the performance appraisal process for peers, managers and junior staff.
  • Contribute ideas to improve, develop and implement new agency capabilities.
  • Attend training and pursue on-the-job training and mentoring to improve tactical skills.
