Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field may be accepted in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.
- Three to five years of nursing experience are required.
- Effective communication skills are required.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently is required.
- Ability to function as a positive role model and resource for all team members is required.
- A Registered Nurse license from the California Board of Registered Nursing is required.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Fire Life Safety Training from the City of Los Angeles is required; if unavailable at hire, it must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification is required within six months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Manage nursing resources to maintain and improve the recovery process of patients in accordance with the medical staff’s plan of care.
- Maintain communication with individuals to support the hospital mission and annual priorities.
- Use safety, customer satisfaction, and fiscal responsibility to guide problem solving and achieve staffing and patient-processing objectives.
- Coordinate staffing needs through problem solving and decision making, and communicate significant events through the chain of command to nursing directors, department managers, physicians, and the administrative team.
- Serve as a role model and coach staff to develop clinical, managerial, and leadership skills.
- Facilitate the smooth operation of the Nursing Department and hospital in the absence of department directors or managers.
- Coordinate interdepartmental functions and make administrative decisions regarding total plant operations, collaborating with management as necessary.
- Assist with the management and resolution of unforeseen patient-care events during the shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field, or being in progress toward one, is strongly preferred.
- One year of management experience, preferably in an acute-care setting, is preferred.
- Two years of experience as a Clinical Administrative Supervisor in a hospital setting are preferred.
- One year of experience in an intensive-care setting is preferred.
- A relevant clinical certification is preferred.
