Render is a cloud infrastructure platform for developers, startups, and enterprises to deploy and manage web applications. It uses infrastructure-as-code so resources are defined in code and can be automated and scaled. The platform supports frameworks like JavaScript, Express, Fastify, Hapi, and Next.js, and offers free starter plans plus paid tiers with more resources, performance, collaboration tools, and security. Render aims to simplify deployment and scaling so teams can focus on building software rather than managing infrastructure.

General Catalyst, Bessemer back $100m series C in US AI firm

General Catalyst, Bessemer back $100m series C in US AI firm. Render has announced it raised US$100 million in an extension of its series C funding, valuing the company at US$1.5 billion, according to CNBC. The round was led by Georgian, with participation from existing investors including Addition, Bessemer, General Catalyst, and 01A, bringing total funding to US$258 million. The company reports over 4.5 million developers on its platform, with more than 250,000 joining each month. Render aims to expand its infrastructure to support AI applications and agents, emphasizing long-running, stateful processes suited for AI workloads. The platform offers native support for persistent workflows, private networking, and enterprise-grade databases. Render plans to develop new features like durable workflows, native object storage, managed sandboxes, and unified observability to better serve AI developers. Food for thought. Implications, context, and why it matters. Render's funding rides Heroku's slowdown and hyperscaler setup pain. * Render's growth has climbed as older platforms have lost momentum. * Salesforce said it was backing away from developing new features for its pioneering platform Heroku, which pushed developers to look for a mature replacement 1. * Render pitches itself as easier than hyperscalers like Amazon Web Services, which can take weeks to configure even for companies with large platform engineering teams (the internal teams that build and maintain developer tooling and cloud infrastructure) 2. * Render's CEO said revenue growth is "well above 100%" 1. * Render is testing its own servers alongside AWS and Google Cloud Platform, a move that could lower costs and give the company more control over infrastructure 1. AI code generation speeds builds while deployment stays messy. * AI-assisted coding makes software easier to create, while deploying it on traditional cloud providers still creates headaches 2. * Render's CEO said AI chatbots have "almost singlehandedly, grown our business" 1. * This trend is pushing cloud infrastructure toward a smoother product experience, which can reduce reliance on dedicated DevOps teams (specialists who manage deployments, reliability, and operations) 3. * That momentum supports platforms like Render as a new "control plane" for developers (the central place to manage deployments and operations) that sits on top of hyperscalers' raw infrastructure 4. Cloud startup Render raises $100M at $1.5B valuation as AI-built apps boom

Render, a cloud infrastructure startup, has raised $100 million at a $1.5 billion valuation as AI-generated applications drive demand for easy-to-use hosting platforms. The company's revenue growth exceeds 100%, with over 4.5 million developers using its tools. Founded in 2018 by former Stripe employee Anurag Goel, the San Francisco-based startup benefits from the AI boom as developers increasingly ask ChatGPT and other AI models to write software and recommend deployment platforms. OpenAI's Codex coding app allows users to deploy applications on Render. The company runs on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform whilst testing its own servers to reduce costs. Customers include Alibaba, Shopify and CBS. Render is also gaining users from Heroku after Salesforce announced it would cease developing new features for the platform.

Serverless Cloud Platform Koyeb Now Lets Developers Spin Up Tenstorrent’S Ai Accelerators

Just a few weeks after chipmaker Tenstorrent raised nearly $700 million in funding, developers can now try out Tenstorrent’s AI accelerators on Koyeb. Tenstorrent sells AI processors built around the RISC-V instruction set architecture, and has developed its own open-source neural network library, TT-NN, and open-source low-level programming model, TT-Metalium.Tenstorrent is part of a group of companies trying to build alternatives to Nvidia GPUs and the company’s CUDA library. It competes with Axelera, Etched, Groq and others.Koyeb was founded by former Scaleway executives, and focuses on developing a serverless cloud platform for developers looking for an abstraction layer at the cloud infrastructure level. It competes with the likes of Fly.io, Railway and Render.Koyeb lets developers deploy applications across several virtual machines using a command line interface or a git push after integrating with the code repository. It supports Docker containers and many popular languages. One of Koyeb’s main features is that it can automatically scale an application to hundreds of servers if needed, and when there’s less traffic, it can automatically scale down server infrastructure. In recent months, Koyeb has been focusing specifically on AI apps. Due to the serverless nature of its platform, it can offer a low-latency experience for AI workloads. On the hardware front, Koyeb has deployed Tenstorrent’s PCIe boards in its data centers
