Requirements
  • An advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, Mathematical Finance, or a related quantitative discipline is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in quantitative finance, including model validation and/or development, is required.
  • Strong understanding of pricing models and adjustments across multiple asset classes, including their design, documentation, testing, real-life performance, and stress risks, is required.
  • Direct experience with hybrid and cross-asset pricing models is required.
  • Working experience with a programming language such as Python or C++ is required.
  • Experience working with model validators is required.
  • Ability to write effective, pragmatic guidance for model developers, including procedures, guidelines, and wiki content, and specifications for software developers, is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to operate effectively and collaboratively in a highly visible, cross-functional role is required.
Responsibilities
  • Own governance, review, and functional testing activities for hybrid pricing and adjustment models spanning multiple asset classes.
  • Act as the primary representative for hybrid model submissions, changes, annual assessments, and governance reviews.
  • Provide technical independent challenge and guidance to hybrid model developers and ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • Support validation, audit, and regulatory reviews involving hybrid models.
  • Write and analyze functional tests and develop the corresponding automation framework for hybrid models.
  • Support hybrid model owners and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead the Model Review pillar within Model Integrity and Control.
  • Oversee model submissions and testing across all asset classes.
  • Provide guidance, challenge, and feedback to reviewers and developers.
  • Maintain consistent review standards across pricing, calibration, marking, and sensitivities.
  • Drive improvements in review quality, efficiency, and methodology.
  • Escalate material model, governance, or control concerns where necessary.
  • Support reviews of single-asset models containing significant cross-asset risks.
  • Ensure appropriate cross-asset expertise and challenge are applied.
  • Promote consistent treatment of cross-asset risks across businesses.
  • Develop and maintain cross-asset modelling methodologies.
  • Lead methodology development for Fair Value Adjustment models, Model Risk Prudential Valuation Adjustment models, and other model risk applications.
  • Ensure modelling methodologies remain robust, scalable, transparent, and explainable.
  • Lead and evolve the Model Integrity and Control Red Team capability.
  • Drive assessment of model limitations, boundaries, and failure scenarios.
  • Develop methodologies to define and test model envelopes across pricing and adjustment models.
  • Partner with artificial intelligence and technology teams to automate Red Team processes and tooling.
  • Deliver practical solutions that identify model risks earlier and more effectively.
  • Develop and enhance policies, procedures, and guidelines for model review and functional testing.
  • Represent Model Integrity and Control in engagements with Model Risk Management, Audit, Controls, Compliance, and regulators.
  • Support policy interpretation, implementation, and development for Markets.
  • Contribute to Model Integrity and Control strategy, prioritization, and execution as a senior leader.
  • Mentor and support reviewers across asset classes.
  • Build partnerships across Front Office, Risk, Finance, Controls, and Technology.
  • Manage a business function and provide significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage, and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects.
  • Manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, lead other people managers, and embed a performance culture aligned with business values.
  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees and influence decisions outside the function.
  • Manage, coordinate, and enable resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalate policy and procedure breaches appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance and ensure regulations are observed.
  • Monitor and influence the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups on behalf of the organization when appropriate.
  • Use advanced analytical skills and interpretative thinking to solve complex or sensitive problems and design solutions.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant and strategic decisions or recommendations within the area.
  • Negotiate with and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions or business divisions.
  • Act as a mandated spokesperson for the function and business division.

  • Experience with Fair Value Adjustment, Prudential Valuation Adjustment, VUMU, or related valuation adjustment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of model testing frameworks, automation infrastructure, and monitoring solutions.
  • Familiarity with Front Office quantitative development environments and model lifecycle tooling.
  • Experience applying data science, automation, or artificial intelligence to modelling topics.
  • Experience designing governance frameworks and review standards.
  • Ability to translate policy requirements into effective, pragmatic governance and processes.
  • Experience working with auditors, control functions, and regulators.
  • People-management or functional leadership experience.

Ameren prices $900M junior subordinated notes offering due 2057

Ameren Corporation announced the pricing of a public offering of $900 million in junior subordinated notes due 2057 at 100% of their principal amount. The transaction is expected to close on 18 September 2026. The notes will bear interest at an annual rate of 6.45% from issuance until 15 March 2032. After that date, the rate will reset every five years based on the Five-Year Treasury Rate plus 1.868%, with a floor of 6.45%. Ameren intends to use the net proceeds for general corporate purposes, including repaying short-term debt. Barclays Capital, BofA Securities, J.P. Morgan Securities, Morgan Stanley, MUFG Securities Americas, Truist Securities, PNC Capital Markets, and Scotia Capital are joint book-running managers for the offering.

Barclays hires two CLSA veterans to revive high-touch stock trading in Japan

Barclays has appointed two former CLSA executives to lead its return to high-touch stock trading in Japan. Takeo Kamai joined as head of high-touch sales trading, whilst Warren Kim was appointed to the newly established team. The UK bank retreated from high-touch trading in Japan in 2016 as part of an Asia-wide cost-cutting initiative, focusing instead on electronic trading, derivatives sales and hedge fund services. Japan's stock market revival has rekindled interest amongst foreign financial firms to expand equity operations in the country. Kamai previously led CLSA's execution services in Japan, including high-touch, programme and electronic trading. Kim oversaw the Chinese firm's offshore sales trading in Japan.

Anthropic secures $15B credit facility, expects $65B revenue ahead of IPO

Anthropic, the developer behind Claude AI chatbot, has secured a $15 billion credit facility ahead of its initial public offering. Major financial institutions including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Citigroup are backing the arrangement. The facility significantly exceeds last year's $2.5 billion loan and surpasses the company's roughly $10 billion target. Anthropic now expects over $65 billion in annualised revenue, representing more than a sevenfold increase from its pace at the end of last year.
