  • Ph.D degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics or closely related field.
  • The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Optical characterization or design of optical devices such as waveguides, lasers, and plasmonic devices; Optical and thermal modeling of optical devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project in research and/or advanced development is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment are essential.
Responsibilities
  • The job opening is for a full-time R&D engineer to conduct research and advanced development for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) in the heads area.
  • Responsibilities can include: Optical characterization for HAMR heads (waveguides, lasers, near-field transducers, thin film test samples), innovative development of new optical tests and lab set-ups, optical design of test structures, and detailed data analysis.
  • Responsibilities also include close collaboration with the wafer process teams and back-end teams to drive innovation in design, process, and materials.
