Quick Take: Axios is a growth-stage startup dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring a breaking news reporter to contribute to coverage on axios.com, joining the talented team on our Newsdesk.
Why it Matters: Breaking news reporters lead by starting and updating coverage for our website when big, national news breaks. Reporters are the first to deliver news via alerts, prominent homepage placement, and social channels to our readers and set the initial context of why stories matter. You’ll report, update, and aggregate stories that are worthy of our reader’s time and attention.
- This is an opportunity for journalists looking to sharpen their writing and reporting skills at the national level and have their work read by millions.
The Details: This role works closely with our team of editors to determine appropriate stories where Axios can add value to our readers. Reporters have the opportunity to collaborate with beat reporters across the Axios newsroom on both breaking and general assignment stories that intersect with our various coverage areas.
- This is a shift-based team, and we anticipate the hours for this role will be weekdays from noon until 8 pm ET, with an eventual move to Tuesday-Saturday schedule (weekdays 2 pm to 10 pm ET and Saturdays, 10 am to 6 pm). All teammates contribute to cover shifts for absences, vacations, etc.
