Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Education Development credential is required.
  • One to two years of related experience is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • The role requires access to a phone at all times and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • The employee must be able to work shifts that include nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, handle or finger items, reach, climb, crawl, squat or kneel, bend, and lift or carry items up to 50 pounds occasionally, with frequent standing, handling or fingering, and reaching outward.
  • The employee must comply with all city, county, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the store manager in ensuring that the store operates according to company standards and achieves positive earnings.
  • Directly supervise store employees and provide supportive leadership to all store employees.
  • Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure satisfactory customer service and quality goods.
  • Assign employees to specific duties and supervise employees performing sales, inventory, cash reconciliation, and customer-service activities.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate, promote, demote, and terminate store employees when necessary.
  • Ensure employees understand and follow company policies and standards, and take corrective action when needed.
  • Instruct staff on handling difficult and complicated sales.
  • Achieve sales, profit, productivity, and customer-service objectives through leadership and supervision.
  • Inventory stock, order merchandise when inventory reaches specified levels, and prevent overstocks or out-of-stocks.
  • Keep records of purchases, sales, requisitions, employee schedules, timecards, markups, markdowns, spoilage, and store-use merchandise.
  • Enforce safety, health, security, and sanitation rules and programs.
  • Examine products received or purchased for resale to assess their condition.
  • Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, and functioning as advertised.
  • Plan, develop, and maintain employee work schedules and review scheduled shift hours.
  • Organize and accurately enter daily sales information for submission to the corporate office.
  • Monitor local competition and confer with company officials to develop methods to increase sales, expand markets, and promote the business.
  • Control store expenses and payroll within budget guidelines.
  • Plan budgets and authorize payments and merchandise returns.
  • Provide supervision to reduce losses from theft and maintain the safe and cash drawers according to company policy.
  • Open and close the store and complete shift-checkout reports and daily deposit procedures.
  • Prepare accurate weekly reports or ensure they are completed by trained employees.
  • Approve timecards in Paylocity and verify hours worked.
  • Maintain employee warning notices and advise supervisors of personnel situations or policy violations affecting store operations.
  • Check equipment for proper working condition and maintain company property.
  • Follow vendor check-in procedures.
  • Build and maintain sellable displays, prepare and maintain perishable foods, and keep coolers, shelves, and displays full and fronted.
  • Clean and maintain store equipment.
  • Assist in areas requiring attention or assign employees to complete tasks.
  • Perform other job-related tasks requested by management.
