Atlassian shares jump 30% as profit margins offset slower 18% growth forecast

Atlassian shares jumped over 30% Friday after the collaboration-software company reported fiscal fourth-quarter results, despite management forecasting slower growth. The company expects subscription annual recurring revenue to grow about 18% in fiscal 2027, down from 23% in the prior year. Investors focused on profitability instead. Revenue rose 28% year over year to $1.77 billion in the quarter ended 30 June, with cloud revenue growing 31% to $1.2 billion. Operating income reached $211 million, a 12% margin, compared with a $28 million loss a year earlier. Net income was $139 million, or $0.55 per diluted share. On a non-GAAP basis, the operating margin expanded to 36% from 24%, and earnings per share rose 91% to $1.87. For fiscal 2027, Atlassian targets a 4.5% operating margin and 13% revenue growth.

Atlassian appoints Ken Exner as CPO to strengthen enterprise security and cloud offerings

Atlassian has appointed Ken Exner as Chief Product Officer for Enterprise and Emerging products. Exner brings approximately three decades of product leadership experience from Amazon Web Services and Elastic. The role focuses on expanding Atlassian's enterprise solutions and security-focused offerings. This comes amid growing demand for cloud tools with strong governance, compliance, and security features. Exner's remit covers Service, Strategy, Product, and Software collections, directly supporting Atlassian's push to serve larger, more regulated customers. For investors, the appointment signals the company's intent to strengthen execution around enterprise and security-heavy product lines. The key measure of success will be sustained uptake of enterprise and public sector offerings, with metrics to watch including Service Collection annual recurring revenue and large enterprise deal activity.

Atlassian shares drop 29.5% despite 25.9% annual revenue growth and 84.8% gross margin

Atlassian's stock has dropped 29.5% over the past six months to $90.60 per share, partly due to softer quarterly results. However, the Australian software company demonstrates strong fundamentals. Over the last five years, Atlassian has grown revenue at a 25.9% compound annual growth rate, outpacing the average software company. The firm's gross margin averaged 84.8% over the past year, among the best in the software sector, and has improved by 3 percentage points over two years. The company also shows exceptional efficiency in customer acquisition, with a payback period of 19 months this quarter. This rapid recovery indicates strong product differentiation and brand reputation. Atlassian provides software tools helping teams plan, track, collaborate and share knowledge across organisations. The company was founded by two Australian university friends who initially funded their startup with credit cards.

Atlassian gains 7.2% on Gartner recognition but analysts call stock 6.8% overvalued at $89

Atlassian's stock rose 7.2% on 13 July 2026 after the company was recognised in Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for Developer Productivity Insight Platforms. The jump comes despite a mixed performance backdrop: shares are up 35% over 90 days but down 42.4% year to date. The stock closed at $89.08, trading slightly above analyst JeffreyZhu's fair value estimate of $83.41, suggesting a 6.8% overvaluation. Analysts project revenue growth of approximately 14.32% on an annualised basis, driven by the company's diversified product suite and artificial intelligence strategy. However, Atlassian currently reports a net loss of $216.8 million. Bulls cite AI tools and Gartner recognition as positives, whilst bears point to continued losses and trimmed fiscal 2027 assumptions.
