Requirements
  • An Associate's degree is required, and a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license in good standing is required for nurse managers, when applicable.
  • At least two years of nursing experience is required.
  • Clinical experience in mental health or chemical dependency services is required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer certification is required within 30 days of hire, with annual recertification.
  • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient is required within 60 days of hire, with annual recertification.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the nursing team to ensure day-to-day operations comply with patient care and safety standards.
  • Oversee all aspects of patient care provided in the clinical program, including patient care activities, programming, nursing activities, patient rounds, documentation, medication protocols, service delivery, admissions coordination, patient advocacy, referrals, medical-staff communication, and unit safety.
  • Facilitate clinical program conceptualization and delivery with medical directors and managers of other departments.
  • Facilitate annual reviews of the clinical program and support continuous learning and integration of therapeutic techniques.
  • Monitor staff use of resources and equipment to maintain a cost-effective, efficient, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Coordinate ongoing training, support, and coaching for staff members to ensure competent care delivery.
  • Coordinate clinical management with managers and directors across clinical units, residential programs, and outpatient programs.
  • Oversee nursing and patient care assistant staff and assist with day-to-day operations, staffing, and patient or resident care capacity.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, including posting positions and hiring and onboarding new staff.
  • Complete introductory and annual staff evaluations.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation with the Nursing Manager or Director.
  • Approve paid time off and payroll-system timecard adjustments and approvals.
  • Attend, participate in, and lead staff meetings, in-services, and huddles.
  • Execute departmental goals with the manager and communicate those goals to staff.
  • Develop methods of measuring goal achievement and maintain department policies and procedures.
  • Apply Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements to clinical services and educate other disciplines about applicable regulations.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, full-time-equivalent expenditures, budget variances, and adherence to budget restraints.
  • Manage personnel, initiate disciplinary processes when needed, establish department meetings, and address employee-related issues.
  • Participate in the Rogers Operating System program and lead or create improvement teams.
  • Ensure program implementation, including design, development, service delivery, and outcome analysis, complies with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Work through Nursing Services Managers across levels of care to ensure patient care and services follow a planned and systematic process.
  • Provide direct patient-care services when necessary.
