Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, biomedical engineering). Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in an experimental biology laboratory, including hands-on experience performing experiments and data analysis and interpretation of results; ability to plan and execute experiments independently.
  • Expertise in common laboratory techniques, including cell culture and media preparation.
  • Familiarity with standard safety procedures and sterile techniques, including proper personal protective equipment and aseptic handling.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques, including working efficiently within a Biological Safety Cabinet, proper handling of sterile reagents and supplies, and routine monitoring to prevent contamination.
  • Proficiency in human blood processing, including handling and manipulating whole blood or apheresis-collected components and downstream cell expansion protocols.
  • Proficiency in T cell isolation from peripheral blood or apheresis products using positive and negative selection methods, with experience in T cell activation and expansion protocols.
  • Proficiency using Google Workspace (Sheets for large data trackers) and creating formal technical reports (Docs/Slides).
  • Proficiency using GraphPad Prism to perform advanced statistical tests and generate publication-quality data figures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex scientific information to both scientific audiences and non-scientific internal staff.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in the face of changing priorities and schedules.
  • Organizational, time management, administrative, and data recording skills; ability to prioritize tasks and multitask to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to international and domestic customer sites as needed.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and move comfortably in confined robotic system spaces.
Responsibilities
  • Experiment Planning and Execution: Assist in experiment design and execution, perform statistical analysis, and present data.
  • Cluster Deployment Support: Act as the onsite biology team representative during the deployment of robotic systems at domestic and international customer sites, including providing assistance and training to customer personnel on automated processes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other teams in improving and implementing automated processes.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Assist with routine laboratory tasks, such as maintaining cell cultures, equipment, inventory, and documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience working within a GxP (GLP/GMP/GCP) laboratory environment, with a proven ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and maintain meticulous records. Familiarity with FDA and EMA regulations concerning documentation, data integrity, and quality control systems relevant to development and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in the operation, programming, and troubleshooting of laboratory automation equipment (e.g., liquid handlers) and closed, automated cell therapy manufacturing platforms (e.g., CliniMACS, Rotea).

Multiply Labs partners with AstraZeneca to automate cell therapy manufacturing with robotics

Multiply Labs has announced an agreement with AstraZeneca to evaluate GMP-ready robotic systems for commercial-scale cell therapy manufacturing. The collaboration will focus on end-to-end robotic automation of industry-standard instruments using Multiply Labs' biomanufacturing platform. The San Francisco-based robotics company develops autonomous manufacturing technology for advanced therapies. Its newest systems use four robotic arms operating in parallel to run cell therapy manufacturing instruments, aiming to maximise output whilst minimising process modifications. "Cell therapies are among the most promising, yet complex medicines being developed today," said Fred Parietti, CEO of Multiply Labs. "Our mission is to make these therapies more widely available by increasing manufacturing efficiency and scale." The collaboration seeks to enable scalable, high-throughput manufacturing whilst maintaining quality and regulatory standards for clinical and commercial use.
