Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical field is required; equivalent experience or industry certifications may substitute for formal education.
  • Three to five years of experience supporting reporting, analytics, or business operations is required.
  • Experience developing Tableau or Microsoft Power BI reports, including visuals, datasets, filters, publishing, workspaces, Data Analysis Expressions, and M Query, is required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data presentation is required.
  • Experience with United States government-related work, such as Department of Defense or Department of Veterans Affairs work, is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio 2013 or higher is required.
  • Experience with SharePoint Online, Remote Desktop Connection, Teams, and SharePoint communication tools is required.
  • Experience with Visual Basic for Applications and Microsoft Power Automate is required.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze current and potential disparate data sources.
  • Build, update, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Maintain Measures and Metrics reports to ensure their continued accuracy and performance.
  • Validate data accuracy and participate in routine data quality checks.
  • Gather user requirements and determine data sources.
  • Create and further define projects and tasks from verbal customer cues and requests with the Measures and Metrics team.
  • Assist with extracting metrics requirements and assignments for proposed or impending initiatives.
  • Support all phases of solution deployment activities in Power BI and other accepted reporting or data visualization tools, including Power BI Desktop, Power BI Workspaces, Power BI Apps, and Power BI Service security and user navigation.
  • Document processes, data flows, automations, and reporting procedures.
  • Contribute to meeting notes, agendas, and metrics documentation as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Measures and Metrics team on metric definitions, reporting updates, and automation opportunities.
  • Contribute to or write portions of Measures and Metrics documentation.
  • Support quality and process improvement methodologies to develop and continuously update team and program processes, documentation, and artifact templates.
  • Streamline Power BI M queries where possible.
  • Work with SQL database administrators to create and refine data sources for Power BI reporting.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Power BI data refreshes and refresh issues.
  • Escalate Power BI refresh issues to the Corporate Data Warehouse team.
  • Document Power BI permissions, workspaces, and report deployment steps.
  • Gather, prepare, and deliver weekly and ad hoc Power BI-based reports through PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Provide general administrative and reporting support to the Measures and Metrics team.
  • Assist with designing, creating, and maintaining SharePoint sites, pages, lists, and libraries.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience automating tasks using Visual Basic for Applications, Microsoft Power Automate, or other scripting languages.
  • Understanding of data quality principles and dashboard design concepts.
  • Experience with Power BI datasets, measures, and report development.
  • Experience with SQL tables, indexes, relationships, complex queries, stored procedures, jobs, and job schedules.
  • Experience with data modeling, extract-transform-load processes, and SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Teams, or workflow and documentation management tools.
  • Prior exposure to government, Department of Veterans Affairs, or Department of Defense environments.
  • A current Moderate Background Investigation and Veterans Affairs network access.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously while handling changing priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfort collaborating with senior technical staff and learning from mentorship.
  • Ability to document technical processes clearly.
  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
