Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in computer numerical control manufacturing and supervisory roles.
  • Expert-level proficiency in computer numerical control programming using G-code, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing software including Mastercam and Fusion 360, and reading blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Deep understanding of machining stainless steel and food-grade alloys.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, manage priorities, and drive a high-performance culture.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and walk or work in a workshop environment close to the manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • Visual acuity for close work, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Tolerance for moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Flexibility for occasional weekend or evening work or travel as required.
Responsibilities
  • Direct daily production activities, assign tasks based on skill level, and manage the shop-floor schedule in coordination with the Production Manager to meet deadlines.
  • Perform first-article inspections to ensure tight tolerances and surface finishes match computer-aided design drawings.
  • Provide over-the-shoulder guidance for complex setups on computer numerical control mills, lathes, and manual machines.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement Lean Manufacturing principles or improved machining strategies to increase throughput.
  • Enforce safety protocols, including personal protective equipment and lockout/tagout, in accordance with California Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for all machinery.
  • Lead and train a team of 6 or more machinists, conduct performance reviews, and foster continuous professional growth.
  • Manage procurement of raw materials, specialized tooling, and inserts while maintaining an organized inventory.
