  • Experience with simultaneous localization and mapping, mapping, navigation, or perception.
  • Comfort working with real robots using Robot Operating System or custom stacks.
  • A bias toward robustness and simplicity.
Responsibilities
  • Own simultaneous localization and mapping, mapping, localization, and path planning.
  • Work with point clouds, sensor fusion, and perception pipelines.
  • Debug simulation-to-real gaps on physical robots.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers.
  • Push navigation into messy, real-world environments rather than limiting it to demonstrations.

Bracket Bot provides an open-source robotics development kit to make robotics affordable and accessible. The core product, Bracket Bot, is a human-scale mobile robot kit under $400 with a segway-like frame, two brushless wheels, a modular aluminum frame, and a detachable mast; it ships as a solder-free kit with a Raspberry Pi 5, an ODrive motor controller, and a 20V drill battery, and its Python software includes a quickstart that gets the robot running in about 10 minutes. It supports controlling multiple robots via the BracketBot Multi-Robot Control MCP Server, which lets AI agents like Claude or GPT-4 manage a fleet for movement, sound, and camera access. The company’s goal is to democratize robotics by lowering costs and barriers while building a community for prototyping, deploying, and scaling autonomous robotic tasks through open hardware/software and a Build-Operate-Transfer model.

Simplify Jobs

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Low-cost parts simplify sourcing for hobbyists, classrooms, and researchers.
  • Hackathons can seed community contributions and showcase real-world applications.
  • Modular design supports rapid prototyping of autonomy and computer vision.

What critics are saying

  • Raspberry Pi 5 supply or pricing changes can raise costs immediately.
  • Open-source hardware makes cloning easy and pricing pressure likely.
  • Any injury or fire incident could trigger refunds, liability, and school bans.

What makes Bracket Bot unique

  • Open-source, under-$400 human-scale robot kit with no soldering.
  • Python-only software and 10-minute quickstart lower robotics onboarding friction.
  • MCP server lets Claude or GPT-4 control robot fleets.
