Requirements
  • Postsecondary education is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity in the automotive industry or high-speed manufacturing is required.
  • Skilled Tradesperson certification in the Province of Ontario, or Millwright, Machinist, or Electrician certification is required.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and motivational skills, with a comprehensive understanding of critical problem solving, are required.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and stress-management skills are required.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization is required.
  • A high level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation, is required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time is required.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, and continuously improve maintenance activities across Plant 1 and Plant 2 in Ancaster, including maintenance personnel and outside contractors.
  • Manage the daily scheduling of maintenance activities for plant equipment, facilities, maintenance supervisors, and hourly skilled-trades employees across both plants.
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Review monthly maintenance performance metrics and recommend and implement continuous-improvement initiatives across both facilities.
  • Participate as a member of the Operations Leadership Team.
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the maintenance work-order management system.
  • Oversee the purchasing and inventory management of maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment.
  • Recommend, evaluate, and support the implementation of new equipment and technology.
  • Review and maintain equipment-history records and maintenance documentation.
  • Review, negotiate, and update annual facility-service contracts for both Ancaster facilities.
  • Provide technical support and maintenance expertise for engineering and capital projects.
  • Manage facility, infrastructure, and equipment-improvement projects through contractor selection, quotations, and project oversight.
  • Lead maintenance-team development, succession planning, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure consistency of maintenance practices, standards, and resource utilization across both facilities.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement, lean-manufacturing, cost-reduction, and productivity initiatives.
  • Adhere to Johnson Electric policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to and support Johnson Electric safety and environmental policies and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and the requirements of the Quality Management System, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001.

  • Experience with heavy presses is an asset.

Johnson Electric reports $3.65B sales, net profit down 23% amid challenging market conditions

Johnson Electric, a global electric motors and motion subsystems manufacturer, reported annual sales of $3.65 billion for the year ended 31 March 2026, up 0.1% year-on-year but down 2% on a constant currency basis. Net profit attributable to shareholders fell 23% to $202 million, whilst adjusted net profit declined 13% to $234 million. The Automotive Products Group, representing 84% of sales, saw revenues decrease 3% on a constant currency basis, impacted by market share erosion among Chinese joint venture customers and sluggish demand in Europe and North America. The Industry Products Group returned to growth with sales up 2%. The company maintained a strong financial position with cash reserves of $902 million and a debt-to-capital ratio of 10%. The board recommended a final dividend of 44 HK cents per share.
