Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 DMA launch expands Zaber deeper into microscopy OEM and semiconductor inspection.
  • Zaber's July 2026 calibration content signals sustained engineering lead-generation and customer retention.
  • Radical AI's May 2026 autonomous-lab case study proves Zaber wins repeatable automation deployments.

What critics are saying

  • PI, Aerotech, Newport, and Thorlabs all attack the same precision-motion buyers.
  • DMA's 50 nm repeatability still trails established piezo systems in highest-end microscopy.
  • A pricing war against cheaper Asian motion-stage vendors would compress margins by 2027.

What makes Zaber Technologies unique

  • Zaber's DMA launch targets piezo-like precision at one-third the cost, with integrated control.
  • Zaber ships CAD files, online pricing, and one-business-week delivery, reducing OEM integration friction.
  • Zaber's open API and Launcher tools speed microscope automation without custom firmware.

Zaber's new DMA OEM Objective Focus Stage: affordable nanometer-level precision.

Zaber's new DMA OEM Objective Focus Stage: affordable nanometer-level precision. Published on 1 June 2026 Zaber Technologies announces the DMA Objective Focus Stage, a compact, linear motor solution for microscope system builders and OEM manufacturers. Starting at €3900 (with controller), the DMA delivers 50 nm repeatability and 10 nm minimum incremental moves, providing comparable precision to piezo stages at one-third the cost. This high-duty-cycle workhorse maximizes imaging throughput with sub-15 ms move and settle times and features an integrated controller within a slim 77 mm x 100 mm x 30.5 mm footprint. The Zaber advantage: integration that saves weeks. The DMA moves OEM systems from prototype to production faster by eliminating the "integration tax" common with complex focus stages. * Plug and Play Architecture: Start moving in minutes with integrated controllers and a simple two-cable setup * No-Code Optimization: Use the Zaber Launcher application Oscilloscope and Servo Tuning tools to maximize throughput and verify performance, without writing a single line of code. * Easy Synchronization: Connect with third-party hardware and sensors via integrated I/O and encoder outputs. * Developer-Friendly API: Integrate quickly using a modern, open-source API with sample code for each feature in Python, C#, C++, and more. * Simplified Topology: Daisy-chain with XY stages and other modules using a single data/power cable to eliminate the "cable nest." "The DMA offers the best of both worlds: the nanometer precision and rapid settling of a piezo stage, combined with the load capacity and long travel of a direct-drive system," says Mike Fussell, Product Manager at Zaber Technologies."By integrating the controller and counterbalance, we've minimized the footprint and cost, making it easier for OEMs to scale from prototype to production." Key applications. The DMA is ideal for demanding, high-accuracy imaging environments: * Spatial Biology: Rapid Z-stacking for high-throughput spatial workflows. * Digital Pathology & Cell Morphology: High-speed tile scanning with fast objective focusing. Drug Discovery: Reliable 24/7 operation for high content screening campaigns. * Optical Metrology & Semiconductor Inspection: Precision positioning with 1 nm resolution optical encoders. Instant availability & support. The DMA Objective Focus Stage is available for purchase now. In keeping with Zaber's commitment to simplified procurement, pricing is available online, CAD files are ready for immediate download, and the units ship within one business week. Every system is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee and a technical support team committed to 1-business-day response times.
