Responsibilities
  • Conduct persistent collection, aggregation, and analysis of open-source intelligence, commercial threat feeds, Information Sharing and Analysis Center reporting, community intelligence reporting, and Government-Furnished Intelligence to identify emerging threats relevant to supported networks.
  • Conduct open-source research to identify commercial exploits, zero-day vulnerabilities, and adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures requiring defensive cyberspace operations action, and integrate findings into the supported environment's detection capability using host-based security, intrusion prevention and detection systems, and security information and event management.
  • Develop, test, and recommend host-based and network-based signatures using YARA, Snort, Suricata, Elastic detection logic, and custom host-based policies, and coordinate signature submissions with the Army Cyber Command signature working group portal for global standardization.
  • Correlate internal sensor data and incident reports against classified and open-source threat reporting to identify campaign patterns and persistent adversary activity, and conduct hypothesis-driven and indicator-based threat-hunting missions.
  • Provide tactical defensive cyberspace operations integration support when directed by integrating tactical network sensor events and signature analysis into the supported Regional Cyber Center's defensive cyberspace operations processes.
  • Develop and maintain a defensive cyberspace operations test lab using a Government-approved commercially leased connection isolated from the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network for malware analysis and open-source intelligence collection.
  • Produce and disseminate Threat Intelligence Reports, Indicator of Compromise packages, Requests for Information responses, and trend analyses, and maintain an intelligence-requirements management process aligned with supported-command and higher Army-echelon requirements.
  • Document and conduct annual test plans for the cyber threat intelligence signature-development pipeline and conduct monthly defensive cyberspace operations-specific internal training while maintaining a Program of Instruction, attendee list, and After-Action Reports.
