Requirements
  • Ideal candidates are self-starters with analytics experience who can identify opportunities to solve problems with data and drive product strategy and delivery. Candidates should be curious and eager to learn about both the science and the business, possess deep analytical know-how, and excel at communicating to audiences with varying degrees of technical expertise
  • Experienced cross-functional leader who can partner with data engineering, data science, and analytics teams to create product strategy, define requirements, and deliver data-driven tools
  • Effective collaborator with business and scientific stakeholders and can bring data strategy and products to life and inject data-driven decision making into Ginkgo's business processes
  • Manager of the Data Team product and project portfolio, lifecycle, and solutions from idea, execution, delivery, and maintenance
  • Consistently trusted leader, able to drive teams and executives through multi-faceted, data-driven decisions
  • 5+ years of related experience (e.g., project management, business process improvement, financial planning, data science & analytics)
  • Track record of developing strategy and guiding implementation across both software and data teams
  • Experience drafting complex technical requirements
  • Experience working in a biological context with biological data, e.g. Next-gen sequencing, -omics, fermentation, and high-throughput screening in a synbio, pharma or clinical, or research setting
  • Familiarity with Jira for project management
  • Familiarity with SQL / reporting tools and the ability to self-serve with basic data exploration tools like Tableau
  • Familiarity with data systems and products including AWS, ETL concepts, dashboard design, and predictive modeling capabilities
  • Experience building strong partnerships, influencing and collaborating at all organizational levels
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills for a large, multi-disciplinary organization
  • Proven ability to build trust, strong partnerships, influence and collaborate at all organizational levels
Responsibilities
  • Drive change management processes with product managers, engineering, and divisional leads
  • Track overall goals and KPIs for quality of data product output, adoption, and business impact
  • Proactively identify feature opportunities and work independently to size the potential impact
  • Lead cross-functional delivery of strategic technical initiatives across Ginkgo while managing risks, assumptions, and dependencies
  • Partner with the finance, software product management, engineering leads, and scientific stakeholders to ensure the team's roadmap and backlog priorities are maintained to enable a smooth agile development process and minimize blockers. Identifies issues that may impede success and provides recommendations for solutions
  • Successfully driven complex, multi-stakeholder processes and cross-team programs to desired results while managing risk
  • Improve processes, eliminate red tape and be on the lookout for ways to get projects into production faster, while maintaining high rigor and quality
  • Mentors, attracts, and develops talent on the team and across the Ginkgo analytical community
  • On high-profile strategic projects, plays a lead role in coordinating work that needs to be done across multiple data and software teams to ensure timely delivery of quality work to stakeholders
