We are actively recruiting for the VP of Brand and Marketing Communications for an exciting Non-for profit organization in the sports industry.
The Vice President, Brand, Marketing & Communications is a hands on strategic leader dedicated to enhancing public awareness and engagement with the organization’s mission. This role requires a visionary mindset, exceptional motivational skills, and a demonstrated ability to champion causes for individuals. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President oversees all aspects of their integrated brand, marketing, and communications strategies. This includes driving initiatives that resonate with diverse audiences, fostering key partnerships, and maintaining a positive reputation while working closely with the federated chapters.
Brand Strategy and Marketing
- Develop and execute comprehensive brand and marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
- Lead the Marketing and Communications Team in crafting innovative campaigns to enhance the brand image and achieve strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, federated chapters, and external partners to integrate brand strategy into all facets of the organization.
- Provide oversight to marketing initiatives, including sponsor campaigns, donor stewardship, and event promotions.
- Work with the Business Development Team to enhance and grow all marketing and promotion of a Gala.
- Work with the Business Development Team to enhance and grow sponsor in store and other campaigns.
Communications and Public Relations
- Develop and implement integrated communications and PR strategies to amplify the organization’s mission and enhance its reputation.
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets to secure positive coverage and position the organization as a trusted voice in relevant issues.
- Oversee the creation of compelling content, including speeches, press releases, and digital media, to effectively engage stakeholders.
- Create broadcast content, including PSA’s, for use by broadcast partners and other outlets.
- Develop and execute a public relations plan, including a national media relations plan, to grow awareness of the organization inclusive of all sports programs, partner driven campaigns and other events and initiatives.
- Oversee the work of the Associate Director to collaborate with and support the Sport Department on communications collateral and awareness strategies for Sport programs including: National Team for World Games, National Games, National Awards Program, Healthy Athletes, Athlete Leadership.
Digital Media
- Direct digital media efforts, including website management, social media strategy, and content creation.
- Create digital marketing collateral for the organization’s departments, including donor stewardship and prospecting, sponsor campaigns, major fundraising and sport events.
- Manage the organization’s websites including development of content and support to chapters.
Planning, Monitoring, and Support
- Manage budgets and allocate resources to maximize impact and achieve strategic priorities.
- Analyze campaign effectiveness and adapt strategies based on performance metrics and industry trends.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Marketing & Communications Team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Contribute to organizational leadership decisions and the development of strategic plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in brand management, advertising, public relations, and communications.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with a focus on client service and team development.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing national communications programs to advance organizational goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft a wide range of materials.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Passion for the transformative power of sport and a commitment to the organization’s mission.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
Responsibility and Supervision
- Lead and manage the Marketing & Communications Team, including 3 direct reports.
- Oversee volunteer supervision and vendor relationships.
- Develop and monitor budgets to ensure financial efficiency.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort
- Hybrid work environment with required office attendance in Toronto.
- Occasional travel and weekend work may be necessary.
- Minimal physical effort, occasional lifting may be required.
