Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field is required.
  • If the bachelor's degree is in a related field, a master's degree in Athletic Training is required.
  • No experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification is required within 90 days of employment.
  • For Wisconsin work locations, Athletic Trainer certification from the Board of Certification/Accreditation and an Athletic Trainer license from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services are required.
  • The position requires frequent standing; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 0–25 pounds; frequent walking, reaching, gripping, keyboard use, and data entry; and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 25–50 pounds.
  • The position requires occasional lifting or moving of patients and occasional driving.
Responsibilities
  • Perform evaluations, set functional and objective goals, and plan treatment programs for each patient referral in collaboration with the Sports Medicine Physician.
  • Respond to patient questions regarding treatment plans and rehabilitation, and reevaluate plans and goals with patients in a timely manner.
  • Manage patient flow and perform patient rooming standards under the physician's direction.
  • Provide initial rehabilitation exercises, including instruction, demonstration, and feedback on patient performance, as directed by the attending physician.
  • Fit and instruct patients in the use of splints, crutches, braces, wraps, and other durable medical equipment as directed by the attending physician.
  • Assist the supervising physician by scribing thorough and accurate documentation of patients' physical examinations and treatment plans.
  • Triage and screen calls related to patient care.
  • Complete clinical documentation promptly according to department expectations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with area high school, collegiate, and industrial Licensed Athletic Trainers to expedite referrals to the supervising physician and coordinate quality care based on the physician's recommendations.
  • Practice in accordance with National Athletic Trainers Association standards, its Code of Ethics, and the requirements of the state of employment.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
