Requirements
  • Applicants must be trained Desert Mountain Medicine instructors with current instructor credentials.
  • A minimum of five years of professional outdoor and/or medical experience is required.
  • Desert Mountain Medicine Lead Instructor Certification is required.
  • The candidate must effectively convey information verbally and in writing.
  • The candidate must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to build rapport with a diverse workforce in multicultural settings.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel for courses on other Utah State University campuses in Utah.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct and oversee all operational aspects of Desert Mountain Medicine courses hosted by Utah State University Outdoor Programs in Moab, Utah, and surrounding areas.
  • Deliver the Desert Mountain Medicine curriculum to students.
  • Oversee course operation and risk management while teaching.
  • Travel for courses on other Utah State University campuses in Utah when required.
