Requirements
  • Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience as a Plumber, General Technician, Maintenance Technician or similar role; proven hands-on plumbing experience is essential.
  • A related technical or trades certification, Mechanical diploma, or equivalent certification.
  • The ability to use general repair tools, read shop drawings and specifications, and make rough estimates of required materials.
  • English speaking ability is mandatory, along with the ability to read and write basic technical or maintenance English.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure all work follows safe work practices, hotel procedures, and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Respond immediately to work requests involving health and safety, water leaks, flooding, blocked drainage, and other urgent engineering issues.
  • Respond promptly, professionally, and courteously to guest and colleague maintenance requests while minimizing disruption to hotel operations.
  • Carry out plumbing installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance throughout guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, laundry, back-of-house areas, and plant rooms.
  • Maintain and repair hot- and cold-water supply systems, pipework, valves, pumps, storage tanks, circulation systems, water heaters, and associated equipment.
  • Repair and maintain toilets, showers, baths, sinks, taps, mixers, flush valves, sanitary fittings, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Identify and rectify water leaks, blocked drains, damaged pipework, defective valves, fittings, and sanitary fixtures, investigating root causes where practical.
  • Maintain drainage, waste, sewage, and storm-water systems, including floor drains, traps, and associated equipment.
  • Support maintenance of plumbing connections to kitchen, laundry, ice-making, dishwasher, and other water-using equipment.
  • Carry out plumbing inspections and testing after repairs or installation and confirm systems are returned to a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Support water hygiene requirements and hotel procedures for hot-water temperature monitoring, flushing, and prevention of water-system risks, including Legionella controls where applicable.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair water works and steam-generation-related equipment within the technician's training and authorization.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair LP gas systems and equipment only within approved competency, permit, and safety requirements.
  • Perform basic general maintenance works when required, including minor electrical works, basic HVAC or mechanical assistance, carpentry, painting, tiling, sealing, grouting, furniture and fixture repairs, and other building maintenance tasks within competence.
  • Assist other engineering trades during planned maintenance, breakdowns, projects, room renovation or refurbishment, and major repair activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a hotel, resort, hospital, or large commercial facility is preferred.
  • Hotel engineering experience is highly desirable.
  • A strong guest-service attitude, professional appearance, proactive problem-solving approach, good interpersonal skills, and willingness to learn are desired.
