Requirements
- A Master's Degree is required in Curriculum, Instruction, Special Education, or a related field.
- Current certification in Special Education is required.
- Successful classroom teaching experience with diverse students in grades 7–12 is required.
- Successful graduate-level teaching experience in face-to-face and/or online settings is required.
- Successful leadership experience is required.
- Experience in course and program design is required.
- Commitment to culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogy is required.
- Knowledge of New York State Education Department teacher certification examinations is required.
- Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
- Proficiency in online learning platforms, including Canvas and Zoom, is required.
Responsibilities
- Teach graduate course sections on campus and online in areas including child and adolescent development, assessment, teaching students with disabilities, literacy instruction, mathematics and science instruction, educational technology, history and philosophy of general and special education, and arts and social studies.
- Participate in the Adjunct/Full-Time Instructors' Learning Community.
- Supervise candidates during clinical practice when assigned.
- Support program advisement for candidates.
- Work with the Program Chair and Lead Course Instructor to teach program courses.
- Advise and supervise master's degree candidates.
- Actively participate in faculty collaborative learning.
- Demonstrate scholarly productivity.
- Uphold the missions and values of Touro College and the Graduate School of Education.
Desired Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction, Special Education, or a related field is preferred.
- Successful experience supervising degree candidates in clinical field placements is preferred if assigned for clinical supervision.
