Inside our global IT operations, these systems, networks, processes and infrastructure are monitored 24/7/365 ensuring platform stability and proper function.

We are searching for an SRE / IT Operations Engineer to work within the technical operations group, to support our technical operation analysts through automation and tooling.

We currently operate a hybrid working model at IBKR, and so you will be able to commute to our fantastic central London office (in the Walkie Talkie building) 3 days per week, where you will be pleased to hear we offer lunch every day you are in the office from a selection of vendors.

Your Responsibilities

• Take ownership of monitoring software tooling, including configuration management.
• Develop and maintain innovative monitoring software.
• Support IT infrastructure teams with exchange connectivity configuration on upgrades and new exchanges.
• Setup file delivery automation.
• Second tier support for Incident Management across the brokerage system.
• Collaborate on post-mortems and create corrective action plans.

Key Requirements

• 3+ years practical experience with Linux based systems and networking.
• 3+ years practical experience developing applications in any of the following languages: Python, Java or Perl.
• Experience coding and managing configuration for monitoring / alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, ElasticSearch, AlertManager). 
• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent relevant technical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.

Preferred

• Experience working in a software development team using supporting development tools (Jira, Git, Gitlab, Jenkins) and best practices (test coverage, unit & integration testing, linting).
• Experience with ITIL best practices and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of file transfer protocols (SFTP, FTP), certificate management and modern encryption standards.
• Infrastructure configuration and management with AWS and supporting cloud technologies (CloudWatch, Terraform, Kubernetes, Lambdas/Functions).
